LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period
March 24-30, 2021.
On March 25, Dep. Anthony Redding worked what
was purported to be a road rage incident. A caller
told dispatch a woman in an older Ford F-150 had
pointed a gun at him on Ga. Hwy. 7. Redding located
the truck and the gun. The woman said she never
pointed it at the other driver who she claimed had
run her off the road. The firearm was legal and the
woman was released.
On March 24, Cpl. Hope Thompson met with a
man at the sheriff’s office regarding harassing text
messages he said came from a Rebecca Thompson.
On March 24, Lt. Shane Moore was monitoring
traffic at the intersection of Fredonia Church and
Brent roads when he spotted a Chevy Cavalier with
inoperative brake lights and turn signals and stopped
it. The driver was identified as Taymary G. Spires, 45.
Moore recognized the passenger as Bryan Moxon. He
saw marijuana leaves on Moxon’s shirt and smelled
marijuana in the car. Sgt. Brandon Goins was sum
moned as backup.
A computer check revealed Moxon was wanted in
Kentucky and he was cuffed. A probable cause search
of the car turned up marijuana residue. In a silver
case near the console, a bag of meth was found.
Spires was spotted moving strangely on the road
side and two more bags of meth were found. One was
in a sock and one in her pants. The total amount of
meth was three grams. Spires admitted she bought
the meth and split it up for resale. She was charged
with sale of meth and cited for the light violations.
Moxon was held in custody for Kentucky authorities.
On March 25, Sgt. Bossie Davis and others located
a stolen 1986 Monte Carlo at a home on Harmony Hill
Ranch Road. The man in possession said he picked
up the car as part of his towing job and offered to buy
it. He did not know it was stolen and was coopera
tive. The owner of the Monte Carlo was located and
retrieved the car.
On March 26, Dep. Justyn Weaver was dispatched
to 114 Ennis Road where a woman reported her dog,
which had been secured to a tree, was killed by three
other dogs roaming the neighborhood. The suspect
dogs were spotted at 220 Ennis Road but no one was
at the residence. The owner of the dead dog was
referred to magistrate court.
On March 27, at 2:43 a.m., Dep. Weaver was
dispatched to a hit-and-run at the intersection of Ga.
Hwy. 7 at Five Points Road. He located the victim
whose car had been hit by a silver passenger car. The
suspect car was spotted soon thereafter in downtown
Milner.
The driver, Deonte L. Carter, 27, admitted causing
the accident and fleeing the scene. He said he fell
asleep at the wheel. He went to jail charged with hit
and run, following too close, driving in the median
and reckless driving.
On March 29, Sgt. Davis was dispatched to a home
on Liberty Hill Road where a woman had found a
suspicious package. The package was addressed to
the home but with another name. The woman said
the package had yarn, yellow tape and just did not
look right.
It turned out the package contained oxycodone
tablets which had been sent from California. C1D was
called in.
On March 29, Dep. Redding was observing traf
fic on Ga. Hwy. 7 when he spotted a vehicle with a
broken windshield and stopped it. A computer check
revealed a passenger, 40-year-old Marion L. Peterman,
had active warrants and he went to jail.
On March 29, Dep. Redding was dispatched to a
home at 478 High Falls park Rd. regarding a domes
tic dispute. The complainant, 25-year-old Jennifer
Walker, had an active warrant for failure to appear in
court and went to jail.
On March 30, Sgt. Wayman Henson was dis
patched to a home at 238 Bottoms Road where two
women reported a family member had broken into a
camper in the yard. They claimed to have interrupted
the theft of a weed eater and chain saw. They identi
fied the thief as Jonathan M. Mauldin, 25, and said he
had stolen from them previously.
A suspect vehicle was identified and a lookout is
sued. A while later a state trooper stopped the car in
Upson County and Mauldin went to jail charged with
burglary.
On March 30, Sgt. Henson was monitoring traffic
on Liberty Hill St. near Vintage Park when he spot
ted a truck pulling a trailer full of loose, unsecured
debris and stopped it. The driver, 34-year-old Lazaro
Oviedo-Ramirez, had only a Mexican ID. He went to
jail charged with driving without a license and failure
to maintain lane.
