2A ®Ijt l)?ralti <©a??ttf Tuesday, April 13,2021 Diamond Trojans split two games with Hurricanes The LC Diamond Trojans (5-14) split two games with the Monticel- lo Hurricanes last week as the regular season wound down toward the last game April 23. LC topped the‘Canes 5-2 Tuesday at Aldora Field. The Trojans man aged only four hits but took advantage of three Monticello errors. Tanner Patterson got the win for LC, going 5.1 innings and striking out five. Conner Vaughn got the save for LC in relief. Johnny Stone had a hit for Lamar while Rhett Blount, Bayle English and Donavan Sanford each drove in runs. On Friday, the ‘Canes edged the Trojans 6-4. LC again had only four hits and compounded their problems by com mitting three errors. Vaughn and Caden De witt worked the mound for LC. Vaughn drove in three runs to account for most of the Trojans’ offensive output. The LCMS Trojans and Lady Trojans are in the hunt for the MGMSAL title which will be decided Saturday in a tournament style playoff at Monroe County. COYID-19: Case numbers creep up Lamar County had 1,312 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of the April 11 update from DPH. That number is up from 1,297 cases March 28. Lamar has had 115 coro- navirus related hospital izations. Lamar’s COV1D death toll remained at 44. As of Monday, sheriff Brad White was tracking 15 positive cases at 12 local residences.
