Meth bust at local tire shop
THE HERALD GAZETTE/WALTER GEIGER
Lamar deputies raided the Trojan Tire shop April 6 and
arrested proprietor Rick Moss (right). Moss was charged with
possession of meth, possession of marijuana and operat
ing a business without a license. He was later released on a
$21,500 bond.
The man on the left was detained, questioned and later
released as was a woman who was at the shop at the time of
the raid. The shop is adjacent to the Circle K store and investi
gators said the raid was connected to one the previous week
on Stafford Avenue. Henry Abreu, who was arrested in that
bust, remains hospitalized due to complications from ingest
ing meth. Upson Regional Medical Center declined to list his
condition.

In a relative short
April meeting, Barnes-
ville city council mem
bers okayed a list of
rental rates which will
be in effect on comple
tion of the renovation of
the Women’s Clubhouse
on Stafford
Avenue.
Interim
city manager
Tim Turner
said the
rates are in
keeping with
those charged for use of
the Civic Center. These
are approved rates: en
tire top floor (including
kitchen), $500 for 4-hour
block; Front room/back
room $250 for 4-hour
block; back room includ
ing deck, $250 for 4-hour
block; additional hours,
$25 per; kitchen rental,
$30; alcohol permit, $25;
off-duty Barnesville po
lice officer, $30 per hour,
4-hour minimum; deposit
- no alcohol served,
$100; deposit if alcohol
offered, $130.
Turner said deposits
are refundable if the
building and grounds are
left clean and undam
aged by users.
The council also ap
proved the addition of
a “memory page” to the
minutes book in honor
of the late David K. Rose.
Rose served
the city in
several posi
tions for 38
years before
his passing
on January 9
of this year.
Dorothy Carter
brought attention to a
second letter sent to the
city personnel with con
cerns about programs
for the 2,700 school-
age children who have
previously been offered
after-school programs
or other events at the
E.R Roberts Center. Her
letter also brought atten
tion to trash problems,
alleged gang-type graf
fiti on stop signs espe
cially on Taylor Street,
and asked for a plea to
residents about trash in
ditches and along resi
dential streets.
Richard Miller asked
for a response from the
city to his written re
quest for a permit related
to home additions and
repairs. Announcements
were made about Lamar
