On April 15, just before 1 a.m., Dep. Justyn Weaver observed an SUV on Hwy. 36 with no tag light and a busted tail light and stopped it. Upon approach, he detected the odor of marijuana and summoned backup. The driver was identified as Reginald D. Tate, 26. The passenger was Devin Anderson. Tate said there was no marijuana in the vehicle but they had smoked some earlier while in the SUV. Anderson turned over a small amount of marijuana. During a probable cause search, Weaver located a pink tube under the driver’s seat that contained two bags of marijuana and three pills wrapped in toilet paper. Tate went to jail charged with a tag light violation, possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule 11 controlled substance and drugs not in original con tainer.
