One cart system for
B'ville garbage pickup
with recycling changes
The City of Barnesville
is making big changes in
its garbage and recycling
pickup operation and
residents will be get
ting new containers this
week. The city is going
to a one-cart system for
both refuse and recy
clables and residents will
get new trash bins this
week.
Traditional recycling
has become ineffective
and inefficient. Due to
new, stricter standards,
many items thought to
be recyclable are going
to the landfill.
Under the new system,
material will be taken to
state-of-the-art facility to
be separated. This will
result in significantly
higher amounts of mate
rials being recycled.
Beginning this week,
carts and recycling bins
will be collected and
replaced with the new
carts. Each will have a se
rial number assigned to
an address. Amwaste will
be responsible for repair
ing and replacing carts.
This week you should:
• Expect cart delivery
between May 3-7.
• Have your cart out
for collection by 5 a.m.
on your normal service
day.
• Place your cart on
the curb with the open
ing pointing to the street.
• Bag all garbage and
place it inside the cart.
• Be aware batter
ies, hot ashes or coals,
flammable or hazardous
materials, paint and tires
will not be collected.
