Cl)f litralti Tuesday, July 13,2021 7A LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY On June 30, Dep. Holt was dispatched to a home at 219 Steele Rd. where a man reported a .38 Special revolver had been stolen. He identified a suspect. On June 30, Lt. Moore responded to Roger Brown Drive near the landfill where a resident reported a suspicious box truck that had been left there for two weeks. It turned out the truck was stolen from a trans port company in Lake City. On June 21, Sgt. Keith Kendrick and other depu ties executed a search warrant at 121 Main St., Apt. 121 in Milner. Deputies in the area had smelled mari juana repeatedly near the apartment. They cuffed the resident, 21-year-old Isaiah D. Berry and searched the apartment, finding a small amount of marijuana and a dock .380. It turned out the gun had been stolen in Macon. Berry went to jail charged with theft by receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana. On July 2, Dep. Weaver responded to Old Hwy. 41 near its intersection with Brown Springs Road regard ing a one-vehicle accident. He found a disabled 2005 Volvo SUV that had hit and damaged a utility pole. The driver, Devin Davis, 21, was on the scene. He said the driver of a flat-bed truck threw a water bottle at him, causing him to crash. Three witnesses saw no flat-bed truck. Davis smelled of alcohol and admitted drinking two shots of Fireball and smoking half a blunt. Davis was abusive of deputies. He tested positive for alcohol and went to jail where he was abusive to EMTs dis patched for a blood draw and jail staff. Weaver got a warrant for the blood draw and Davis had to be forced into a restraint chair for the EMTs to do their work. He was charged with four counts DUI, DU1 (drugs), reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, no seatbelt, driving too fast for conditions, suspended license, obstruction of an officer, obstruction of emer gency medical personnel and disorderly conduct. On July 3, Dep. Patrick Saunders was dispatched to the intersection of the MLK Bypass and Hwy. 41 South where a northbound car ran the stop sign and was in the ditch on Hwy. 41. The driver, 44-year-old Vanessa Green-Cranford, said her brakes locked up and she skidded through the intersection, taking out a traffic sign. Green-Cranford smelled of alcohol and admitted to having a couple of beers on an empty stomach. She refused testing and went to jail charged with two counts DUI, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to notify owner upon striking a fixed object. On July 2, Dep. Banta was dispatched to 992 High Falls Rd. where Robert Mitchell reported that in May he had turned over a grey 1968 Camaro RS to Douglas Patrick Ward to be painted. Spalding investigators reported Ward was known for taking cars to work on and not returning them. On July 5, Sgt. Henson was running radar on Hwy. 36 East when he clocked a 2008 Grand Marquis run ning 74 m.p.h. and then 81 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone. He stopped the vehicle near Cole Forest and, upon approach, detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was identified as William R. Johnston, Jr. The front seat passenger was William R. Johnston, Sr. who had an open beer can between his legs. More cans and a liquor bottle were in the floorboard. Johnston, Jr. had trouble standing but refused roadside testing. He was advised his blood would be drawn at the jail after a warrant was issued. He replied he was scared of needles and agreed to take an Intoximeter test at the jail. He blew a .192 and then a .194. He was charged with two counts DUI, reckless driving and a super speeder violation. On July 5 in the same area, Sgt. Henson clocked a 2007 Honda Accord running 70 m.p.h. and stopped it. He could smell marijuana and saw shake in the car and on the person of the driver, 22-year-old Eric Searcy. A search turned up no additional contraband. Searcy went to jail charged with suspended license, no seatbelt and a super speeder violation. POLICE REPORT Between Monday, June 28 and Monday, July 5 the Barnesville Police Department made the following arrests: Jeremiah Scott, 21, 101 Owens Ln., Apr. 25 Bldg. 400, Barnesville, disorderly. There were 89 calls for service including: two fights, three animal complaints, one prowler, three burglaries, five domestics, 11 suspicious persons/ vehicles, eight speeding, six accidents, one intoxi cated driver, three escorts, 11 alarms, one damage to property and one mental subject. They issued 25 citations: one driving while li cense suspended or revoked, one failure to maintain insurance, seven speeding, one DUI, two failure to stop, one window tint violations, five disorderly, one operating with a learner’s permit, one driving with suspended tag, one improper passing, one failure to dim headlights and two seat belt violations.
