LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period Au
gust 11-17, 2021:
On Aug. 11, Dep. William Holt was dispatched to
Hwy. 341 at Forsyth-Yatesville Road to meet with a
man about damage to his vehicle. The driver said
he was northbound on Hwy. 341 when he passed a
southbound tractor-trailer and the draft blew his
hood up, damaging it.
On Aug. 8, Dep. Coleman Conner was dispatched
to Liberty Bell Ln. where a couple was breaking up
and a dispute arose over who owned certain pieces
of furniture.
On Aug. 12, Dep. Holt was manning a license
check with other deputies and city police at the
intersection of Hwy. 41 South and the MLK Bypass
when a white Escalade approached. Upon approach,
he smelled the odor of marijuana. He asked the oc
cupants if there were any drugs in the SUV and they
replied in the negative. The driver, Kentavist B. Jack-
son, 28, and the passenger, Jeremy B. Hicks, 25, were
asked to step out of the vehicle and complied.
Jackson had a suspended license and was detained.
The occupants were told a probable cause search
would be done and they reported there was a gun on
the back floorboard. Holt found a loaded Glock 26 9
m.m. handgun with a round in the chamber. A check
revealed it had been stolen in Bibb County. Both oc
cupants said the gun belonged to a friend.
The search also turned up a half-empty bottle of
Patron tequila, two catalytic converters removed
from other vehicles, a jack and assortment of saws
used in removing converters. Jackson claimed he
had a license to cut off converters but had no proof
of such a license on him. Jackson was charged with
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft
by receiving stolen property, open container viola
tion, and suspended license. Hicks was charged with
theft by receiving stolen property. The Escalade was
impounded.
On Aug. 12, Dep. Anthony Redding was working
the same license check when a blue passenger car
pulled up. Upon approaching the car, Redding im
mediately detected the odor of marijuana. The driver,
Melvin T. Willis, 31, said he was headed home from a
female’s house. He admitted having an ounce of mari
juana in the car. A search turned up a black Batman
backpack which contained a large quantity of mari
juana, THC gummies, ecstasy tablets and suspected
heroin.
The backpack also contained scales, a marijuana
grinder and a supply of sandwich bags. Willis went to
jail charged with possession of marijuana, possession
of marijuana with intent to distribute, three counts
possession of controlled substances, sale of amphet
amine and possession of drug related objects.
On Aug. 15, Dep. Justyn Weaver was monitoring
traffic on Hwy. 341 South when he clocked a silver
2013 Chevy Malibu running 74 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h.
zone and stopped it. The driver, Eric T. Brown, 40,
had a suspended license due to a super speeder
violation in 2020. He went to jail charged with sus
pended license and a second super speeder charge.
The Malibu was turned over to a licensed driver.
