LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period Aug.
18-24, 2021.
On Aug. 18, Dep. Justyn Weaver worked a dispute
over payment of $150 for lawn work done at a home
at 491 Jackson Rd.
On Aug. 18, Dep. Barclay Banta and Dep. Weaver
worked a physical domestic disturbance at a home
on Old Milner Rd. in which a woman said she was
slapped twice in the face. Matthew R. Moore, 31, went
to jail charged with family violence battery.
On Aug. 19, Dep. Ashley Johnson met with Ran
dolph Vaughn at the sheriff’s office. Vaughn com
plained about a roofer he hired who had not finished
work at two homes, one on Liberty Hill Rd. and the
other on Old Alabama Rd. Vaughn said materials for
the jobs were rotting in the yards. He was referred to
magistrate court.
On Aug. 20, Dep. William Holt was dispatched
to Holloway Rd. regarding a complaint of neighbors
going through mail delivered to a home across the
street. A mail carrier left three packages at the wrong
address which were opened but nothing was missing.
On Aug. 20, Dep. Anthony Redding was dispatched
to Holloway Road where a man alleged his neighbor
had damaged his swimming pool. The victim said he
was filling his pool with a hose and left the water run
ning to go to the store to get pool supplies. When he
returned, the hose was off and the liner had been slit
with a knife.
On Aug. 21, at 3:54 a.m. Sgt. Bossie Davis respond
ed to Old Alabama Road where a vehicle was lying on
its side on the side of the road. The car was totaled
and blood was found inside it but no driver was
around. The car, a 2019 Chevy Spark, was registered
to Rosalyn Cornell. Davis went to Cornell’s home. She
thought the car was in the driveway. She was shown
a cellphone found at the scene and identified a photo
on the phone as being that of her grandson who was
supposed to be at a hunting camp with his father.
Later that afternoon, Davis returned to the home
and the grandson, Eric Cornell, 20, was present and
had multiple visual injuries. He said a deer ran out in
front of him, causing the crash. He admitted to driv
ing faster than the 35 m.p.h. speed limit. He was cited
for failure to maintain lane.
On Aug. 21, at 1:05 a.m., Dep. Redding worked a
domestic dispute at a home on Steele Rd. where a
female struck a male with her fist and a plastic chair
before fleeing the scene. A report was filed.
On Aug. 22, Sgt. Wayman Henson was monitoring
traffic on Van Buren Road when he clocked a vehicle
running 72 m.p.h. in a 45 m.p.h. zone. The driver,
60-year-old Kenneth D. Pounds, had only a learner’s
license and had no licensed driver with him. He went
to jail charged with driving without a license and a
super speeder violation.
On Aug. 22, Sgt. Henson was northbound on Ga.
Hwy. 7 near Trice Road when he clocked a silver
Toyota Tacoma running 83 mph. in a 60 m.p.h. zone.
Henson was in an area where he could not cross the
median, so he alerted Dep. Holt who clocked the Ta
coma at 85 m.p.h. and stopped it on Five Points Road.
The driver, a 16-year-old, received a juvenile citation
and his father was alerted. The teen was released.
On Aug. 23, Dep. Weaver was dispatched to 112
Possum Trot Rd. where a woman claimed a dog at
tacking a cat had clawed her vehicle. She said the dog
lives at the fire station in the area. The woman was
referred to magistrate court and fire chief Douglas
Matthews was alerted.
On Aug. 24, Dep. Weaver responded to Rock
Springs Road where Dep. Coleman Conner was out
with a 2007 Honda Civic that bore a tag that came
back to a black 2006 Ford Focus registered to the
driver, 29-year-old Thomas M. Marshall. Marshall said
he was going through a divorce and trying to get so
ber. Marshall’s eyes and face were red and he became
agitated. K-9 Jazz was deployed and indicated on the
trunk area.
A set of scales with meth residue was found in the
trunk. Marshall agreed to a blood test. He went to jail
charged with DU1 (drugs), possession of drug related
objects and use of a license plate to conceal.
On Aug. 24, Dep. Weaver spotted a wanted person
in a car at C&B Store on Hwy. 41 South. The driver of
the vehicle pulled out onto the highway without her
seatbelt on. The car also had no driver’s side mirror
and Weaver stopped it.
The driver, Jennifer Morris, had a valid license. The
passenger said he had no license on him but gave his
name as Chandler Sanford. He was later identified as
39-year-old Jason S. Sanford and arrested on out
standing warrants. A search of the vehicle turned up
no contraband and Morris got only verbal warnings.
