Michele Maori
Marcozzi McDaniel
Mrs. Michele Macri Marcozzi McDaniel, age 64, of
Barnesville, passed away on Sunday, September 19,
2021.
Mrs. McDaniel was born on Friday, July 19, 1957, to
the late Samuel Marcozzi and Gloria Catherine Macri.
Michele was also preceded in
death by her husband James
Lynn McDaniel and son Em
manuel Lee Huddleston. Mi
chele loved her children and
her grandchildren with all her
heart; she also had a big heart
for dogs. She had a passion
for gardening and canning and
was also known as a wonder
ful cook. Michele was known
for having a big heart and she
expressed this gift by taking care of others.
Michele is survived by her children and their
spouses; Rebecca Huddleston (Jeremy), Heather
Holliday (Randy) and Jennifer Huddleston; grandchil
dren, Christian Holliday, Sierra Landrum, Emma Holli
day, Blake Brown, Chloe Holliday, and Alana Holliday;
her sweetheart of many years, John Kendrick; as well
as a host of extended family.
A memorial service for Mrs. Michele Macri Mar
cozzi McDaniel was held at 12:00 noon on Friday,
September 24, 2021, at Barnesville Church of the
Nazarene with Pastor Lonnie Grant officiating.
Friends visited with the family following the service
at the church.

Mary Evelyn Driskell
Mauldin Maynard
Mary Evelyn Driskell Mauldin Maynard, age 71 of
Meansville, Georgia passed away Saturday, Septem
ber 18, 2021. Mary Evelyn was born in Zebulon, Geor
gia on July 31, 1950. She is preceded in death by her
parents, James Cass Driskell and Sarah Lillian Walden
Driskell; husbands, John Ross
Mauldin Sr., Robert C. May
nard; and son, James Marshall
Mauldin.
Mrs. Maynard was a talent
ed gospel singer and songwrit
er. She produced, recorded
and copywrited several songs.
She worked with local food
banks, preached to women
inmates in jail, and was a care
giver to the elderly. She was
also a member of Lighthouse Church of Barnesville.
Survivors include her children, John Ross Mauldin
(Deanna), Phoebe Michelle Mauldin Smith (Jeff), and
Benjamin Roy Mauldin (Denise), nine grandchildren,
15 great-grandchildren, siblings, Dennis Driskell, and
Christy Driskell Truluck, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Friday, September 24, 2021
from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Vega Community
Church in Meansville, where a service followed at
2:00 p.m. Interment was at Fresh Manna Cemetery.

O'Brien Johns
Rev. Michael O’Brien Johns passed away peaceful
ly on September 22, 2021 at his daughter’s residence
in Monticello, Georgia at the age of 82.
Born in Atlanta to Ima Inez Milam Johns and Fran
ces “Jack” Cummings Johns on June 2, 1939. Michael
was married to Claudette Han
cock Johns for over 58 years.
Michael is survived by his
5 children and their spouses,
David and Licia Evans of
Jackson, Robert and Sonja
Ballew of Monticello, Alfredo
and Rebecca Garcia of More
land, Jason and Caryn Johns
of Sharpsburg and Michael
Hancock Johns of Milner.
Michael was born the
second child in a family of three boys. He is preceded
in death by his older brother James “Jimmy” Johns
and survived by his younger brother Robert “Bobby”
Johns. Michael was a proud “Papaw” to his 13 grand
children, Rachel Weber, Jessica Stevens, Alfredo Diaz,
Erin Woodard, Carlos Diaz, Samuel Ballew, Jacob
Ballew, Caleb Johns, Leah Johns, Chase Johns, Alex
Garcia, Abby Garcia and Gabriel Garcia. He was espe
cially proud of his growing family and the addition of
two Great-Grandchildren, Aurora Stevens and Ezekial
Ballew
Michael graduated from Cook County High School
in Adel, Georgia in 1957 and when able enjoyed
attending his high school reunions. Michael was a
veteran and served honorably in the Coast Guard. He
was a United Methodist Minister, serving at various
churches in the North Georgia Conference. He was in
the pulpit until a month before his death.
Michael was a Master Mason since 1967 and a
proud member of the St. John’s Masonic Lodge # 45
in Jackson, GA
A memorial service was held at Mt. Carmel United
Methodist Church in Hampton, Georgia where Mi
chael served as pastor for many years. The service
was held at 2:00 o’clock on Sunday September 26,
2021 with visitation from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Interment fol
lowed at approximately 4:30 at Westview Cemetery in
Monticello, Georgia.

American Legion meets at Women’s Club House
The Martin-Moore American Legion Post 25, is now meeting again at the newly remodeled Women’s Club House on Stafford
Avenue, the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. for the winter months. Meetings will return to 6:00 p.m. in April 2022. All
veterans are invited.

21. The observance will
