VFW to host Freedom Fest Saturday Marion Matthews Post 6542 VFW will host Freedom Fest 2021 on Saturday, Oct. 9 with entertainment starting at 4 p.m. and including music, festival foods, an outdoor concert featur ing Dixie Pride Band, an auction, games including corn hole and darts and fireworks at dark. All pro ceeds from the event will go to help local veterans in need. “This is our first Free dom Fest. Last year when COV1D hit and a lot of people were struggling, Buggy Days got cancelled so we held an event to help. This year we didn’t want to hurt or take away from Buggy Days so we decided to do something in Octo ber. We just wanted to help people out and have some fun. It’s going to be a great night,” said Post Commander Richard Wright. “All proceeds will go to help our local veterans in need and allow us to continue our mission of serving our veterans in the community and their families.” The auction will be held from 4:40 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with musical entertainment through out the day and the Georgia/Auburn game being televised inside the VFW. A guitar auto graphed by coun try singer Blake Shelton, beverage memorabilia and a wood carving by 1972 world cham pion carver Bob Shaver are just some of the items to be auctioned. The Dixie Pride Band will perform an outdoor concert and take the stage at 7 p.m. Food items will include barbecue, hot dogs, chili and other fes tival foods with fireworks at dark. “Come out and help us make this a great event,” said Wright. Krairoong Brooks, possession of meth and possession of drug re lated objects: two years probation, $500 fine and 20 hours community service. Richard H. Sawyer, possession of mari juana and possession of drug related objects: 18 months probation, $1000 fine. John Scheu, sexual exploitation of children: motion for removal from sex offender list denied. Bruce Armstrong, pos session of meth; sent to RSAT. Nathan Reynolds, possession of meth and possession of drug re lated objects: probation revoked. George Samuel, theft by taking and theft by re ceiving stolen property: motion to reduce bond denied. Niquita Few, posses sion of cocaine, posses sion of a Sched ule 11 controlled substance and drugs not in orig inal container: failed to appear, bench warrant issued. Deronte Wil liams, robbery by sudden snatch ing: revoked 12 months probation. Robert A. White, three counts obstruction, terroristic threats and acts and shoplifting: not prosecuted. Brandon Thorpe, pos session of cocaine and possession of marijuana: four years probation, credit for 231 days time served, $1,000 fine and mandatory mental health treatment. Kenneth Jones, pos session of meth: five years probation, $500 fine and 80 hours com munity service. Ralph A. Barnes, simple battery: failed to appear, bench warrant issued. Robert White, three counts obstruction, two counts reckless conduct, ter roristic threats and acts and shoplifting: seven years probation, $1000 fine, 80 hours commu nity service, banished from Dollar General and must take medica tion. Donald Edge, DU1: 12 months probation, $1000 fine, 20 hours community service. Shannon M. Crews, reckless driving: 12 months probation, $1,000 fine and 20 hours com munity service. Johnny Minyard, possession of meth: five years probation, $1000 fine and 80 hours com munity service. Justin L. Couch, theft by receiving stolen prop erty: 40 hours commu nity service, stay away clause and $300 restitu tion. Steven Johnson, fail ure to register as a sex offender: $500 fine.
