1.4 million square foot complex
a possibility for northeast Lamar
WALTER GEIGER
news@barnesville.com
An Atlanta area developer is
looking to build a complex of
three warehouse/distribution
type buildings on a 109-acre
tract in northeast Lamar County.
The three buildings proposed
would total 1,439,200 square
feet.
HFG Development, LLC is
seeking to rezone the property,
which fronts 1-75, High Falls
Road and Turner Road from AR
(agricultural-residential) to M-2
(manufacturing). According to
tax records, the property is cur
rently owned by Arthur Barry
Turner and family.
The largest building proposed
for the site is 567,600 square
feet. The smallest is 414,000
square feet. The third is 457,600
square feet.
The rezoning request will go
before the planning commission
at 6 p.m. Sept. 8. The county
commission will take up the mat
ter Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
Kathy Oxford, executive direc
tor of the local industrial de
velopment authority is pleased
with what she has seen from the
developers so far.
“1 think this is a great op
portunity for us. That portion
of Lamar County along 1-75 is
the place for quality develop
ment. This would be the highest
and best use for that property,”
Oxford said.
