LC student section getting it done on game nights
The LC student section has been a force to be reckoned with at home games at Trojan Field, cheering for the home team and disrupting the visitors with lots of noise. They are pictured dur
ing the red out for the Dublin game, a 21 -20 overtime win. This past week, they sported bright colors for neon night as #8 LC took down Manchester 35-22 to go to 4-0.

Lady Trojans go 1-2 as LC volleyball

The LC Lady Trojans
(4-5) went 1-2 over a
three-game span the
last two weeks. The
schedule has been dis
rupted by rainouts and
wet field cancellations.
On Aug. 30, LC
topped
region foe
Crawford
County 6-1
in Roberta.
Autumn Hin-
kley went the
distance on
the mound
for the win.
She struck
out five and
allowed only five hits.
Morgan Strickland
had three hits and
drove in a run for LC.
Cara Bishop had two
hits and two rbis. Lau
ren Wilcher had two
hits and Hinkley helped
her own cause with two
rbis.
On Aug. 31, Hampton
got a run in the bottom
of the seventh to take a
5-4 win over Lamar. Lily
Tavares started for LC
and went six innings,
striking out three.
Shy Foster had three
hits and drove in a run
to pace the
Lady Tro
jan attack.
Wilcher
added three
hits and two
rbis.
On Sept. 8,
Lamar host
ed region
foe Heard
County and
got shellacked 12-4.
The visitors picked up
six runs in the top of
the second and rolled
thereafter. Hinkley took
the loss. Lamar had four
errors.
LC travels to Temple
today for a region
matchup.
The Lady Trojans
volleyball squad (9-10,
2-0) won three of four
matches played over the
last two weeks.
Two of those matches
came on Aug. 26. LC
opened with a two-set
win over Cumberland
Christian Academy 25-
15, 25-15. In the second
match, LC fell to Konos
Academy in straight sets
The Lamar Lightning
select girls started their
Georgia Premiere League
season over the weekend
with a win and a tie.
On Saturday, the
locals traveled to War
ner Robins and topped
Legion FC 8-0. Jenny
Beverly had two goals to
pace LC. Ava Bushby and
Willow Teal each had a
goal and an assist each.
Scoring single goals
18-25 and 20-25.
On Sept. 6, Lamar
topped region foe
Temple in straight sets
25-10 and 25-22. In game
two, they routed Green
ville in straight sets 25-13
and 25-5.
Lamar hosts Heard
County and Greenville
today and take on ACE
and Tattnall Square on
the road Thursday.

Trojans built an early
lead and then held off
a late challenge as they
topped the Manchester
Blue Devils 35-22 here
Friday night in front of
a large crowd and some
college recruiters.
UGA running back
coach Dell McGee was
there as was a contingent
from Auburn.
Lamar got on the
board first at the 4:59
mark of the first quar
ter when Jordan Glover
scored on a seven-yard
run. Josh Moore’s PAT
made it 7-0.
That lead held until
3:42 left in the second
quarter when Tony Alt
man, back from injury,
scored on a 15-yard run.
Moore’s kick made it
14- 0.
On the Blue Devils’
next possession, nose
guard Daylan Cauthen
recovered a fumble at
the Manchester 16 yard
line. LC cashed in on a
15- yard TD run by CJ
Allen. Again, Moore was
accurate and it was 21-0
at the half.
The Blue Devils scored
on a two-yard run on
their first possession of
the second half. They
went for two and failed
and LC led 21-6.
Allen responded
with a 68-yard TD jaunt.
Moore’s kick made it
28-6.
Trojans top
The Lamar County
Trojans won a thriller
Sept. 2 as they took the
Dublin Fighting Irish to
overtime and placekicker
Josh Moore clinched the
win with a PAT.
The Irish got on the
board midway through
the first period, scoring
on a one-yard plunge.
The PAT failed and it was
6-0.
With two minutes
gone in the second
quarter, Lamar’s CJ Allen
scored on a six-yard run.
Moore’s PAT made it 7-6.
Five minutes later, Tro
jan quarterback Ty Head
scored on a two-yard
run. Again, Moore was
accurate and it was 14-6.
With 3:38 left in the
third period, the Devils
picked up an LC fumble
and returned it 51-yards
for a score. They suc
ceeded on the two-point
er and it was 28-14.
Lamar struck back
at the 10:09 mark of the
final period when quar
terback Ty Head scored
on a 12-yard run. Moore’s
kick made it 35-14.
The Devils got a score
on an eight-yard run with
3:05 left in the contest
and got another two-
pointer to account for
the final margin of 35-22.
Allen had another stel
lar night with 15 carries
for 124 yards and two
touchdowns. Head went
two for two passing for
48 yards. He also rushed
for 41 yards and one TD
on six carries. Altman
had 46 yards and one
score on 12 carries.
Qua Hughley had five
carries for 38 yards.
Glover had eight carries
for 15 yards and one
score.
LC finished with 306
yards to 200 for Man
chester.
Lamar travels to Jack-
son Friday. Kickoff is set
for 7:30 p.m. on Red Devil
Hill. Jackson is 2-1 and
unranked in Class AAA.
They opened with a loss
to Lovejoy then beat Ola.
Last week, they topped
Union Grove 21-7.
Irish in OT
Midway through the
third quarter, the Irish
scored on a 25-yard run
and hit the two-pointer
to tie it at 14-14 and that
was the tally when the
horn sounded.
The coaches elected
to play overtime. The
Irish got the ball first and
scored on a 10-yard run.
They tried to kick the
PAT, suffered the second
bad snap of the game in
that situation and it was
20-14.
The Trojans put the
game on the back of Al
len, the workhorse, and
he scored on a 15-yard
run. Moore then nailed
the game-winning PAT to
make it 21-20.

touchdown in overtime as LC
prevailed 21-20.

loss and one fumble recovery.

Senior PK
Moore, who also excels at soccer,
was a perfect three for three on
PATs including the game winner
in overtime. He also was 100% on
placing kickoffs into the end zone
for touchbacks.
