IN MONROE COUNTY.
Forsyth, Ga., February 28. —
The most destretive rain storm that
has ever visited Monroe county oc
curred here Thursday night, last
ing several hours. Nearly every
bridge in the county has been
washed away and the damage to
roads and farming lands is consid
erable. It is estimated that it
will take SIO,OOO to SI2,(XX) to
replace the bridges washed away
as several of them spanning the
Towaliga river were costly struc
tures.
So far no loss of life has been
reported.
The lowlands near Dames ferry,
on the Oemulgoe river, in this
county, are overflowed to such an
extent that the railroad track is
under water and the Southern
trains are today using the Central
track from Macon to Griffin,
thence via McDonough to Atlanta.
IN BUTTS COUNTY.
Jackson, Ga., February 28, —
The heaviest rains ever know in
these parts fell Thursday and
Thursday night. No trains have
passed here today, and the author
ities say none will be able to run
until Sunday.
About 7 inches fell here, and
nearly all the bridges in the county
were washed away and also several
mills. At Indian Spring all bridges
were washed away and also sev
eral negro houses. No mails in
or out of Jackson today.
Henley Roller mills, the Bar
nett mills and Kinnard’s saw mill
were washed away near Jackson,
Ga., by the flood.
Last night’s rains caused a loss
of S2,(XX) at Indian Spring, but no'
lives were lost. All bridges and
two houses were swept away.
IN MERIWETHER COUNTY.
Warm Spring, Ga., Feb, 28, —
The flood was very destructive in
this county. Many road bridges
are gone. The fish hatchery was
not injured.

THE BKST FENCING.
"Woven Steel Wire, Heavily Galvan
ized, Stands Every Test.
The development of fencing,
from the stone walls of New Eng
land and the snake fence of Vir
ginia, through all the heart-break
ing experiences of farmers with
barbed wire and fence building
machines, has been such a slow
process, that many farmers began
to lose faith in the perfection of a
good wire fence, until the Ameri
can Field and Hog Fence appear
ed.
This highly satisfactory fence
has been improved and now is so
perfect that all fencing shipped
from the factories of the makers
is guaranteed. It is made of heavy
Bessemer steel wire. This wire is
heavily galvanized and is then
woven* in a costly machine of such
delicate adjust ment , and the weav
ing is done with such exactness
that when the fence is subjected
to a strain of ten or fifteen tons,
every wire receives exactly the
same amount "of strain as every
other wire in proportion to its
breaking strain. The American
fencing is delivered in rolls all
ready to stretch and staple to the
! posts. In comes in heights from
;20 inches to 58 inches. It is so
! quickly adjusted that three men
can put up a mile of it in a day
after the posts are set.
