The social event of commence ment week was the dance and party Thursday evening, given by the younger society set at the City Hotel. The large dining rooms were thrown open and made into a beautiful dancing hall. The par lors of the hotel were thrown open to the guests that did not dance and amusements of various kinds were indulged in. During the later part of the evening, delightful refreshments were served. Miss Minnie Tyler entertained her friends at a delightful party Thursday evening at the home of her parents on Thomaston street. The beautiful and well kept lawn of this hospitable home was a scene of gayety throughout the evening. Several games were played during the evening, after which delightful refreshments were served.
