Mr. R. H. Morris will appear

house Fiiday °vening, under the
auspices and for the benefit of
the Ladies Aid Society of the
Presbyterian church. The pro
ceeds of the entertainment will
be applied to the manse fund
which the ladies are raising.
Mr. Morris needs no introduction
to the people of this place as he
has already endeared himself to
the public in his former recitals
here, suffice it to say that his
entertainment Friday night will
equal any he has given. The price
of admission will be 25 cents.
After the recital has closed the
ladies will serve refreshments of
cream and cake and every thing
will be done to make the crowd
have an enjoyable time.
Everyboby should go out to

Cadets will go to Albany.
The Gordon Institute cadet
battalion has received and ac
cepted an invitation from the
Chautauqua association at Albany
to attend this years session of the
chautauqua and they will go down
Monday April 27 and return Wed
nesday 29. The battalion will be
in charge of Captain E.T. Winston
and Cadet Major H. L. Covingtop
and accompanied by Col. J. Q.
Nash and Prof. G. F. 01 ipliant.
It will be remembered that the
cadets made a visit to Albany
last year on an invitation from
the Chautauqua association of
that place and covered themselves
with glory by the their excellent
drill and behavior, reflecting great
credit upon the institution they
represented. The people of the
town confidently expect to hear of
them making an equally line record
on their trip this year.
Will Deliver Memorial Address.
Rev. It. 11. Morris has been in
! vited to deliver the Memorial ad
dress at Forsyth. The invitation
was extended by the ladies of the
Memorial Association of that city
and he has accepted it and will ad
dress the people of Forsyth on
Memorial Day.
This honor comes as a distinct
recognition of his abilities as a
speaker and show's in what esteem
he is held by the people of Forsyth,
as he serves the Presbyterians of
that city as pastor of their church
and very acceptably, too.
Damaged By Winds.
There was considerable damage
done here by the wind Monday
morning.
A small storm passed across the
western part of town, passing over
the upper end of Greenwood,
Thomaston and Forsyth streets,
blowing down a number of trees,
chimney, fences, and demolishing
several houses and it looked for a
while as if we were going to have a
taste of the real thing in the way of
a cyclone. It is supposed that this
was a frag mentor' the storm which
raged in the lower section of the
state.
Atlanta is not satisfied with a

There were no services in the

apointed, as the exercises at night
promised to be very enjoyable.
Eclipse Witnessed.
The eclipse of the moon was ob
served by the people of Barnesvill
last Saturday night. It was visi
ble from about 6 o 'clock untill
eight and could be plainly seen aB
as it was a clear night. It was a
very interesting and beautiful
sight and was viewed by a great
many people and some did not
know what to make of it, as they
had not studied the almanac re
cently. It is said by those who
are supposed to know that there
will not be another eclipse of the
