LIFSEY LOCALS
Cotton is opening rapidly, and
we are having fine weather for
picking, so we are putting in full
time. Owing to the dry weather,
crops here will be very short. It
was very dry here this spring and
summer. We have been five weeks
now without rain, consequently
cotton is opening prematurily.

Gentlemen :
Yours received and noted, and
in reply I have to say that f<Vr
three years 1 was in a very low
state of health from a kidney and
bladder affection, so much so,
that my physician thought I
would never recover. I tried sever
al mineral springs with no per l
manent results, last December
one of your agents induced me
try Horn of Salvation, and by
the time I had taken one bottle I
think J. had passed from my blaiSy
dor not less than 500 stones from
the size ot a very small grain of
sand to the size of a bird shot. I
continued to use it Mil I had taken
four bottles, and I am as well
today in that respect as I ever
was in my life, ajui I attribute
it all to the wonderful effects of
Horn of Salvation. You may ua%
this letter in any way you sefc
proper, as it may he the instru
ment of giving some poor suff'er
rs relief.
I am very truly,

HOW BUSINESS
IS TAUGHT
STUDENTS IN ATLANTA COMMERCIAL
COLLEGE LEARN BOOK-KEEPING
LIKE BALL PLAYERS LEARN
TO PLAY BALL, BY AC
TUAL PRACTICE.
The ordinary business college
course gives maitily a theoretical
knowledge of book-keeping aud
when the student takes a position
he has then to learn to keep books'?
many business men will not em-,
ploy those tresh from business
colleges on account of this weak
ness. Book-keeping and business'
cannot be divorced , for a student
to learn book-keeping he must do
the business and have a conscious
knowledge of how he stands with
the men with whom he does the
business and then see what records
are necessary in order that his
books may show his accounts cor
rectly; and when this is properly
taught as it is in Atlanta Com
mercial College the student takes
his job with the knowledge of an
experienced man and does full
work the first day he goes into
the office.
When you Do a thing week after
week You Will Learn How it is
pone ; you Will be able to Do it,
and that is just what and how
we teach. Knowledge and Skill
are attained By Practice. Is it
the professor of sciences who
knows the Theory ofeurves. that,
thrown the ball best, or the player
who learns on the diamond?
We know that a student should
have the experience in school
which he will need when he takes
a position. IB- should work eight
hours per day in school, and have
the work crowded on him during
that time, so that he will not be
overworked when he takes his
position and confused because he
is rushed.
The Atlanta Commercial Col
lege practices this and teaches
business and book-peeping, be
sides keeping its students off flhe
streets.
EMERGENCY MEDICINES.
It is a great convenience to have at
hand reliable remedies for use in cases
ofaccident end for slight injuries and
ailments. A good liniment and one
that is fast becoming a favorite if not
a household necessity i Chamberlain’s
Pain Balm. By applying it promptly
to a cut, bruise or burn it allays the
pain and causes the injury to heal ih
about one-third the time usually re
quired, and as it is an antiseptic it pre
vents any danger of blood poisoning.
When Pain Balm is kept at hand a
sprain may he treated before inflama
tion sets in. which insures a quick re
covery. For sale by J. H. Blackburn.
Sweeping the Carpet.
Tea leaves are sometimes sprin
kled over a dusty carpet before
sweeping begins. Better than leaves
arc strips of newspaper which have
been wrung out of hot water before
being torn.
