A VERDICT FOR $4OOO.
The jury in the case of Mr. J. J.
Loving againstthe Central of Geor
gia Railway Company, which was
tried in the City Court of Barnes
ville last week, gave a verdict to
the plaintiff for $4OOO.
The case was begun Thursday
morning in the city court of Bar
nesville before Judge C. J. Lester
and the evidence and argument end
ed Friday evening. Saturday morn
ing the jury was charged and about
11 o clock a verdict was rendered.
Mr. Loving was a traveling rep
representative of the Atlanta Con
stitution and in alighting from
the Thomaston train here on Jan
uary 12th last, he hurt his left foot
alleging negligence on the part of
the road. The case was hard fought
throughout. The plaintiff wuis rep
resented by Hon. Hoke Smith and
Col. J. F. Golightiy of A1 lanta and
Col. W. W. Lambdin of this city,
while the railroad’s lawyers were
