IT SHOULD BE CORRECTED
On several occassions lately the
behavior of some people attend
ing entertaimnOnts U 1 Barnesville
l>as been anything but what it
should have been, a notable in
stance being tie 1 behavior at the
auditorium last Friday evening.
Tim program was being carried
out st riot ly as advert ised and there
was no excuse for the conduct ot
those who created the disorder and
if such a thing is repeated it
should certainly be the duty of
some body to make a case tor the
mayor’s court. A person who can
not behave himself at a public en
tertainment should either stay
away or Ik* sent to the lockup.
Sometimes a frivolous young man
or young woman, who ha only
sense enough to lie a Smart Alex,
can lead a congregation of thought
less boys and girls into flagrant
disorder.
It is to be hoped that Barnes
ville will keep up the record that
its citizens have made for her in
the past-, and if so, there will be
no repetition of the conduct which
occurred last Friday evening.

LET’S HAVE A REVIVAL
Apparently there lias been a
falling off in the “Barneeville
spirit,” which has been such a
powerful factor in the progress and
prosperity] of the thriving little
city in the past decade or so,
which is not to lx* greatly won
dered at in view of certain influ
ences whicli had to be contended
with, but there now seems to bp
great reason for a revival of the
spirit.
It is a fact that the people here
have never been possessed of great
wealth, Ini) they have public spirit;,
indomitable energy and enterprise
that knows no limit and hence the
success which lias always, attract
ed the attent ion of the entire state.
From every indication it would
appear that the future is more
inviting and encouraging than it
has been in many years and the
citizens should become interested
and aroused for the immediate
establishment of new business en
terprises and the building up and
enlargement of those already in
operation. No citizen should he
satisfied with the present achieve
ments but ail should lie ready to
do what can he done to help the
little city to push forward and to
increase its population to at least
8000 within the next two years.
bet’s have a revival of the
“Barnesville spirit.”

THE FUTURE ENCOURAGING
The people < f Barnesville cer
tainly have reason to be proud of
the record the little city has made
in the past. The growth and devel
opment in the past ten years has
been remarkable, and even with
in the recent past, though over
taken with misfortunes, there has
hardly been a day when there was
a vacant house, either a business
place or residence, in the com
munity. The stores have been do
ing a prosperous business and the
manufacturing establishments
have really had more than they
could do, and have been constant
ly enlarging their plants. During
the past few- months the demand
for houses for business and tor
homes has been unprecedented,
the supply of neither being equal
to the demand. The unexpectedly
large enrollment of Gordon In
stitute is another source of en
couragement to the people and it
goes to show that the citizens of
the little city have every reason
to put forth further and contin
ued efforts for the progress and
growth of the place. There is no
reason whatever why Barnesville
should not have at least 5000 pop
ulation within the next three or
four years.
There should be a united and
thoroughly enthusiastic co-oper
ation on the part of all the citi
zens for the continued growth of
Barnesville, for the future seems
to be exceedingly promising.

The Telescriptograph.
An Italian engineer now residing
at Brussels has, it is said, invented
an instrument which he calls the
telescriptograph,and which will pro
duce in print all conversations held
over the telephone. If he has real
ly done this the doom of the type
writer has been sealed, since one
would then have only' to talk into a
machine which would grind out the
typewritten letters as fast as they
were dictated.
