ENTERTAINMENT
GREAT SUCCESS
ONE OF THE MOST ENJOYABLE OC
CASIONS OF THE SEASON. PRO
GRAM RENDERED WAS HIGHLY
PLEASING.
The parlor entertainment, given
under the auspices of the ladies of
the Presbyterian church last Fri
day evening was a success socially
and financially. The evening was
one of the most plesant that has
been the good fortune of the peo
ple of Barnesville to pass recently.
The beautiful home of Mrs. C. O.
Summers was tastefully arranged
and decorated for this occasion
and everything was in shape to add
to the enjoyment of those who
attended.
We will not take up each num
ber of the program in detail but
suffice it to ray that all the per
formers acquitted themselves with
great credit. The music and reci
tations were thoroughly enjoyable
Special mention should be made of
the work of the little people who
had parts in the program. After
the completion of the program
the refreshments were served to
the guests on the lawn. These
were very delightful.
A feeling of good fellowship
prevailed during the evening and
it was altogether one of the most
delightful entertainments of the
season and the ladies are to be
congratulated on their success.
The program in detail was as fol
lows :

roes.’’-Misses M. Elder, N. Ad

DR. HUNT NO LONGER PASTOR.
Dr. Rolfe Hunt has declined re
election as pastor of the Congre
gational Methodist Church r f Bar
nesville, the reason he gives being
that his time is needed as editor
of The Watchman and manager
of the Bible school, which is to
be located in Atlanta.
Not only the members of this
church but the entire citizenship
of this city regrets exceedingly to
see him give up the pastorate of
the church. He is held in the
highest esteem by all the people
and he was always at work, un
dertaking to do all the good pos
sible. He is practically the lead
er of his church in the south and
he is doing a great work.
DAUGHTERS OF CONFEDERACY
The Daughters of the Confeder
acy are invited to meet at the
home of Mrs. J. A. McCrary on
Friday Afternoon, Oct. 14, half
past ibree.
An interesting program will be
prepared and a full attendant"* is
desired.
NEW POSTOFFICE
BUILDING SURE
MR. M. W. SMITH WILL ERECT ONE
ON THE EAST SIDE OF MAIN
STREET NEXT TO DIS
PENSARY.
Mr. M. AV. Smith received infor
mation last Saturday night that
his bid for furnishing anew post
office building for Barnesville had
been accepted. Although he has
not fully decided on the plans for
the building in which the office
will bo located it is thought that
he will erect a handsome office
building on the lot above the dis
pensary. The plans will be drawn
up in a few days for the building
and work begun verv soon.
The new quarters for the post
office will be much larger and
more convenient. The plans call
fora modern equipment of lock
boxes and other furniture neces
sary to an up-to-date office. The
post-office authorites have secured
a lease for ten years on the site.
The office will remain in the pres
ent building until the completion
of 4 he new quarters.
This is a much needed step as
the present room is inadequate for
the needs of the service. The pos
tal business has increased wonder
fully recently which goes to elio
the growth of the city.
