A GOOD WOMAN GONE
• t w •_ •, .
. A
Mrs. J. M. Shockley died at the
of her daughter, just a few
miles from Barnesville, December
4, 1922. Before her marriage she
was Miss Jennie Ford, her home be
ing near Milner. She was born De
cember 24, 1857. She is survived
by her husband and six children:
One daughter, Mrs. Grover Jackson;
R. L. Shockley, O. L. Shockley, of
Barnesville; S. M. Shockley, of Grif
fin; J. P. Shockley, of Sumpter, S. C.;
M. E. Shockley, of Atlanta; one sis
ter. Mrs. Bob Chapman-, of Zebulon,
and fifteen grandchildren.
Mrs. Shockley had been a sufferer
all her life, more or less. She was
taken seriously ill about ten days
before her death. She exhibited
wonderful vitality, for it has been a
surprise that she could have lived
so long under the affliction which
has rested upon her all these long
years.
Her patience and fortitude through
aU these trying years were remark
able. She knew she could not live
and she said she was ready for the
time to come so far as her prepara
tion for the great event was con
cerned.
Mrs. Shockley was a true and loyal
Christian as was emminently testified
t$ by the words and the deeds of her
life. The dominant trait of her
character was a spirit of kindness
and sympathy. Wherever sickness
and sorrow came to those about her
she was quickly at hand to minister
any way she could. She did not
even think of her own feeble self.
She was faithful to her loved ones.
She was a sweet and loving mother.
May her children never forget her
loving counsel to them. She will be
missed by her .large number of
friends, but these will count it a
privilege to i-ecall her noble, unsel
fish life of loving service for others.
The funeral services were conduct
ed by Rev. H. L. Edmondson of the
First Methodist church of Barnesville
after which the body was tenderly
laid away in- the Greenwood ceme
tery. A FRIEND.

Mrs. Della Scholz, 1412 Salisbury
Street, St. Louis, Mo.
Just think for a moment. Lydia E.
Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound has
been in use for nearly fifty years. It is
prepared from medicinal plants, by the
utmost pharmaceutical skill, and supe
rior methods. The ingredients thus
combined in the Compound correct the
conditions which cause such annoying
symptoms as had been troubling Mrs.
Scholz. The Vegetable Compound exer
cises a restorative influence of the most
desirable character, correcting the trou
ble in a gentle but efficient manner.
This is noted, by the disappearance, one
after another, of the disagreeable
symptoms,
