Y., Democrat and Chronicle, was published injthis paper recently and has beu the subject of much conversa tionrboth in professional circles and on the street. Apparently it caused more commotion in Rochester, as the follow ing from the same paper shows: Dr. J. B, Henion, who is well 'known not only in Rochester, but in nearly every part of America, sent an extend ed article to this paper, a few days since which was duly published, detail ifig his remarkable experience and res cue from what seemed to be certain death. It would be impossible to enu merate the personal enquiries which have betn made at our ofiice as to the validity of the article, but they have been so numerous that further inves tig ation of the subject lias deemed an edi torial necessity, ♦ With this end in .view a representa tive of this paper called on Dr. Henion at his residence on St. Paul street: when the following interview occured: “Tliat article of yours. Doctor, has creat ed quite a whirlwind. Are the state ments about the terrible condition you ware in, and tlie way you were rescued such as you can sustain?” “Every one of them and many addi tional ones. Few people ever get so near the grave as J. did and then return, and lam not surprised that the public think it marvelous. It was marvel ous. 5 “How in the world did you, a physi cian, come to be brought so low” ‘ ‘By neglecting the first and most sim pie symptom j. I did not think I was sick. It is true I had frequent head aches; felt tired most of the time; could eat nothing one day jp,s ravenous the next; felt dull indefinite pains and my stomach was out of order, but I did nokthink it meant anything serious,” these commonjailments any •t' ll ® to do with fearful Bright’s dis M| which took so firm tg hold on you 7” 9 ‘‘Anything?.Why’they the sure indication of t,he first stages of that j dwdful malady. The fact is. few peo ple kndauor reailize what ails them, land i tun sorly to say too few pliysi cijaiis do either.” W '“That is a Doc tor.” H “But it is a true profession have been symtoms ifistead of diseases for yells, and it is high time jit ceased. We doctors have been clipping off the twigs when we should strike at the root. The symp tame I have jnst mentioned If any un usual action or irritation of the water channels indicate the approach of Bjright’s diseases even more than a cough announces the coming of con sumption. We do not treat the cough, bpt.tryitowlp the lungsHfe should not waste our time trying to reliew the headache, stomach, pains about the bo dy or other symptoms, but go directly to the kidneys, th source of most of these ailments,” “This then, is whatyu meant when you said that more tlnm one-half the deaths which occur arise from ;Bright’s it doctor?” ‘ diseases are torturing' people to-day, when in reality it is Bright’s disease in someone of its many forms. It is a I jydra-headed monster, and the lightest symptoms should strike terror to every ope who has I can look back and recall hundreds of deaths which physicians declaml jfat the time were caused by paralysis, apoplexy, heart disease, pneumonia, malarial fever and open: common coin plaints which I see see now where caused by Brights dis ease. “?Ynd did all! these cases have sim ple symptoms at first ?” “Every one of them, and might have been cured as I was by the timely us of the same remedy-Warner’s Safe Kid ney and Liver Cure. lam gettidg my eyes thoroughly opened inifhis matter and thinkdKam helping others to see the facts and tlieir possible danger also. Why, there are no end of bear ing on this subject. If you want to know more about it go and see Mr. War ner himself. He was sick the same as I, and is the healthiest man in lioches ter to-day. He has made a stgdy of this subject and can give you more facts than 1 can. Go, too, and see DA Latti more, the chemist, at the Univ%sity. If you want facts there are any quuni ty of them showing *the alarming in crease of Bright’s disease,t its jsimple and deceptive symtoms, and that there is but one way by which jit can be escaf ed. Fully satisfied of the truth and force of the Doctor’s words, the reporter bade him good day and called on Mr. Warner at * his $ establishment on Exchange street. At first Mr. War was inclined to.be retinent, but learning that information desired was about the alarming increase of j Bright’s disease, his manner changed instantly and ho spoke very earnestly: “Itiis true that Bright’s disease has increased wonderfully, and we find, by reliable statistics, thatjn the past ten years its growth has been 250 per cent. Look at the prominent men it has car lied off; Everett, Summer, Chase, Wil son, Carpenter. Bishop Haven and oth el’s. This is terrible and shows a grea ter growth than that of any other known complaint. It should be plain to every one that something must be done to check this increase, or there is no knowing where it nily end.” “Do you think manjppeople are af flicted with it to-day wio do not realize if, Mr. Warner V” “Hundreds of thousands. I have a striking example of this truth which has just come to my notice. A promin ent professor in a Kew Orleans medical college was lecturing before his class on the subject of Bright’s disease. He had various guides under microscopic analysis, and was showing the students what the indication of this terrible mal ady were. In order to show the con trast “between healthy and unhealthy fluids ne had provided a vial the contents of [w hich were drawn from bis own per son, ‘And now, gentlemen, ’lie said, ‘as we have seen the unhealthy indica tion, 1 will show you how it appears in a state of perfect health.’ and he sub mitted his own fluid to the usual test, asjae awtchcd the result his countenance suddenly cliaged— his color and com mand both left him, and in a trembling voice he said: ‘Gentleman, I have made a painful discovery; I have Bright’s dis ease of the kidneys,’ and in lefjjf than a year he was dead.” You believe then it liMno symptoms of its awn and is freqiHtly unknown even by the person vmois afflicted with it?” It has no symptoms of its own and ve iy often none at all. Usually no two people haVe the shine sympww|s and fre quently death is the first Symptom. Tlr.slightest indication of any kidney tli flippy enough to “•It is very wonrteiTul, is it not Avery prominent case But not more ho than a great many, others that bare come to my notice as having been cur ed by the samomeans.” “Yoa belfere then that Bright’s dise ase can be cured?” “I know it can. I know it from the experience of hundreds of prominent persons who wcfe given up to die by both their physicians and mends,” • M. T. VI had felt languid and unfitted for business for years But I did not know what ailed me. When however, I found it was kidney difficulty I thought there was little hope and so did the doctors. I have since learned that one of the of this city pointed me out to a* genmm man on the street one day. saying? ‘there goes a man who will l>e dead within a year.’ I believe his words would have proven true if I had not fortunately secured aud used the reme dy now known as Warner’s Safe Kidney and Liver Cure ” “This causedwyou to manufacture it?” “No it caused me to investigate, 1 went to the principal cities; saw physi cians prescribing aud using it and I therefore determined, as a duty I owed humanity and its suffering, to bring it within their reach and now it is known in every part of America; is sold in every drug store and has become a household necessity.” A The redorter left Mr. Warner, nuo impressed with the earnestness and sin cerity of his statements an# irext paiik a visit to Dr 8. A. Lattimere, at liis*r sidence on Prince street. Dr. Lit more, although busily engaged up<m some matters connected with the State Board of Health, of which he is one of the analysts, courteously answered the questions that were propounded him: Did you make a chemical analysis of ■the case of Mr. H. 11. Worner some pthvee years ago, Doctor?’ 1 , “Yes, sir.” “ What did this analysis show you?’ “The presence of albumen and tube cast in groat abundance. “And what did the symptoms indi cate?” “A serious disease of the kidneys.” “Did you think Mi’. Warner could re cover?” “No. sir I did not think it possible. It was seldom, indeed, that so pronoujMied a case had, up to that time, ever men cured.” pt “Do you know anything about the remedy which cured him?” “Y'es I have chemically ’analyzed it and upon critical examination, find it entirely free from any poisonous or del. eterious substances?” Wp|)ublish the foregoing statements in view of tire commotion which the publicitjgof Dr. Henion’s article has caused and to meet the protestations \fmch have been made. The standing of Dr. Henion, Mr. Warner and Dr. Lattimore in the community is beyond question and the statements they make, cannot for a moment be doubted. They conclvsively show that Bright.s disease of the kidneys is one of the most decep tive and dangerous of all diseases, that it is exceedingly common, alarmingly inlcrasing and that it can be cured. “Skinny Men.” Well’s Health Kenewer. EVILS OF ROTATION. It w<#ld befell now to begin the dis cus sion in regard to the necessity of abolishing the rotation system in the State Senatorial districts. If the sub ject was properly ventilated and it was shown that the next State convention should pass on the question the issue of abolishing the rotation system could be made in the selection of delegates to that convention. If there ever was a silly practice in the politics of Geor gia the rotation practice is most abso lutely so. The next Georgia Senate will be composed almost entirely of new members. Will any sane man in Geor gia assert that this new body is anything yke as capable of legislating as a body of more experienced men ? Again, we would ask how can a body of men be come familiar with the rules and prac tices of the Senate in the short term of forty days? Suppose Gordon Institute was required to elect new professors every forty days. Could they advance the interests of the school and render the community effective service as edu cators? Not a single man in Pike coun ty will assert it. What farmer would hire a set of hands to work on his farm forty and then be forced to employ another crowd? It is just as reaaona ble to apply the principal to any busi ness as to that of legislation, and we hope the State press will take tip this question now while the evil results of rotation are more visible than at any time and when there is no elections to be held soon. Discuss it and if need be make the issue of abolishing rotation by the next State convention.
