To the Boys.
We would point the boys of Barnes
ville to the example of Hugh Boyd, a
fourteen-year-old boy, and a printer in;
the ZaGrange Reporter office. By de
positing his savings in a bank, he has
accumulated'enough to purchase a live
hundred dollar bond of the city of Co
lumbus. In our last issue we had some
thing to say to the boys and girls about
being always up with their work. The
sermon of the Graudpa contained more •
Solid advice than any short sermon we
iiat^v^Whd.
Xow the savings of this young print
er in a weekly office suggests a short
lecture to the boys who read the Ga
zette. By way of parenthesis we sug
gest that the same lesson may yet be
learned by many of our adult readers.
It is by saving somethihg every
month or every year that men accumu
late a fortune. \>|e know a gentleman
who began bis business life in Barnes
ville. He bad every disadvantage to

would half of his salary, no matter
how little he might be forced to live on.
This resolve once thoroughly deter

he now has an awple®|)rt§ine to provide

Is the title periodical just

Asa specimen of printing “Our Bay”
would be a credit to any press. It’s
purpose is to give sketches of the great
city in which it is published, New
York, and occasionally give a scene
from rural or “back-woods’’ life. Oue
of its purposes which more than inter

a fair presentation through its columns.

Divorce Laws.
New York courts enable divorced de
fendants to evade the law forbiding mar
riage for iive years after a decree of di
vorce has been obtained. A few days
1 since, a man who had been divorced from
his wife and desired to marry again be
fore the statute limit had expired. He
simply took his girl, went over to Phil
adelphia and had the ceremony of mar
riage performed. They then went back
rio New Yjerk to live. Their case was
brought before the courts of New
York and they sustained the marriage as
a valid one on the idea that any mar
riage in Pennsylvania was
as valid in New York if it wms not in

the same way by the courts

Why Mysterious 3?hysiel Trou

A. Profession al Experi

Few things give more pain than dread
or apprehension. Most people are able
to face apparent danger heroically,
but the sudden and unexpected coming
of some indefinite calamity very natur
ally strikes terror to even the bravest.
For this reason lightniug and tornadoes
are considered terrible; their coming
and going are so sudden, unannounced
and unknown. For this same reason
an unknown disease, some poison in
the blood, some malady that is grad
ually undermining the life, is specially,
dreaded by all thinking people. And
indeed, there are good reasons for such
dread, for modern science has discover
ed that some virulent disorders show
the least signs in their beginning, while
the worst possible symptoms.
