We hardly see haw the stale con

national convention, can make any
declaration on natioual issues, espec
ially on the financial questiou. It
will bo unfortunate to have a state

ONE CONVENTION.
The State Executive committee
of the den ocratic party in Georgia
met in Atlanta Saturday, for the pur
pose of transaciiug business for the
pnrtv.
The mnpt important busings® tran
sacted was the decision to hold onlv
one convention this year, in: t aid of
two as beret fore. The convention
was rrdered to be held in Macon on
TLur.day, June 25th., for the pur
pose of choming delegate to the na
tional democratic convention at Chi
cago, air nging for the choice of.
presidential electors of the p* rty. and
for the further purpose of nominat
ing the party’s ca didates f r gov<r
nor, state Loupe officers, and f<r
such t ther business as, in the judge
ment of the convention, may be c m
sidrred. It was further ordered
that county primaries for the choice
of delegates to the state convention
be consolidated on one day, and Sat .
nrday, June G>b., was fixed as the
day. ;
We think ! o c LVmtiona would
have been better. We very much
fear u cot flict between the ttitc plat
foint and the national jJitfurm, as
we think this was the purpose of
ilioso who advocat and the one cmtD
tioc.
Conservative action is absi lately
nec s> ary now, and c mcr-ssions must
be made or we very much fear that
troubl is ahead. F dions must try
to g< t <O', ether Democratic loyally
i ’.<? Dpt so binding as it once was, and
if tlie “men who control’’ think they
can manipulite the party in any wav
that may suit, them aid make the
members of the pit*ty obey ihem at
will, they are leariully mistaken.
This too is a natural consequence of
tire conduct of many leaders in the
party. Advocates of the free silver
idea have made all manner of charges
against democrats who oppose free
silver, and v.ee versa. From Presi
dent Cleveland and wu to the humblest
democrat, none have escaped. The
esult. is that many of the best citi
zens, who have always been voting the
democratic tick't and who are yet
democrats, are disgusted witu this
state of tbmgs, and rather than be
involved in this constant turmoil and
s rib, they are ready to siy they wdl
have nothing fuitber to do with poli
tics.
The last slate cunpaign is not too
far in the pat for any to misunder
stand what we mean, an i since that
time an incessant war has been go
ing on between factious in the dem
ocratic party in Georgia. There is
already a divisitn. cud it may bo
worse, and if so, it will unquestion
ably be dimwit ous.
It is a time for cautious, wise and
const ivative ucliou on the par* of ti e
leaders of the democratic p .rty in
Georgia.

With a better understanding of the
transient nature of the many phys
ical ills which vanish before proper ef
forts—gentle efforts—pleasant efforts—
rightly directed. There is comfort in
the knowledge that so many forms of
sickness are not due to any actual dis
ease, but simply to a constipated condi
tion of the system, which the pleasant
family laxative, Syrup of Figs, prompt
ly removes. That is why it is the only
lemedy with millions of families, and is
everywhere esteemed so highly by all
who value good health. Its beneficial
effects are due to the fact, that it is the
one remedy which promotes internal
cleanliness, without debilitating the .
organs on which it acts. It is therefore |
all important, in order to get its bene- j
fleial effects, to note when you pur- 1
chase, that you have the genuine article, i
which is manufactured by the < 'alifornia
Fig Syrup Cos. only, and sold by all rep
utable druggists.
If in the enjoyment of good health,
and the system is regular, then laxa
tives or other remedies are not needed.
If afflicted with any actual disease, one
may he commended to the most skillful
physicians, but if in need of a laxative,
then one should have the best, and with
the well-informed everywhere. Syrup of
Figs stands highest and is most largely
used and gives most general satisfaction.

New nan, Ga., March 22, 1895
This is to cenifv that I havn been
under the tieatmeut of Dr. Woclley
for tbe habit of morphine. I wem
to Dr. Woolley on the 21st day of
September, 1893. At that time I
was using one bottle of morphine ev
ery six days for an old wound in th*-
bead; thought I could uot live with
out it, but at thw same time saw
that it was fast taking my life from
me. When I commenced takmg Dr.
Woolley's medicine I weighed ninety
six pounds, aud u,y life was no satis
faction to me, but iu a short time I
saw that the gloomy days were pass
ing away, and in seven montos I
was entirely cured of the morphine
habit. I now weigh one handled

cured me.
