What’s the hlse
OF CUTTING UP AND
making such a to do abciut
selling stuff? Our town is
all awry over disposing of
their goods and chattels.
Some of us are going to auc
tion oft their truck, and some
are going to sell at New York
cost, and some are just going
to sell the best way they can,
and the balance will have to
look on—just shut our doors
and in amazement look, with
bewilderment look ! All at
once, let her come—trade,
sell, swap), anything to get rid
of our overloaded shelves and
counters. Our town is a hon
ey. There’s no town between
Macon and Atlanta that can
touch us. Our town is made
up of energetic, pushing,
thriving, knock-em-down-and
drag-’em-out citizens. The
Reeves Boys, Jim and Ben
Reeves started their mixed up
store (various goods) three or
four years ago here, in this
city, and they ain’t got no
two-for-a-quarter store neither.
No! they have a big storehouse
and that big storehouse is full
of good things for barter,
bought right and marked to
sell. F>er now and then we
give awaw something. You
send your five year old child
to us for anything and he or
she will be treated square aftd
fair. We love good children
good, we said-and we can’t
help it. This is Jim talking,
he’s got none, but Ben has.
We’ve lately received lots of
new goodies, and many other
things not quite so good. We
welcome you at any and all
times, and wish you well, even
to prosperity itself. Our new
Ga. cane has come, and it’s
good.

DECEPTION!
An ass* having put on a Kon s skin, roamed about in the foiv

frighten him also, but the fox no sooner heard the sound of his
voice, than he exclaimed ? "I might possibly have been frightened
myself, but I have heard your old bray before/* AESOP,

The community is agai n inflicted with that old Cock and Bull
story—“COST,” We buried it last year with our famous “Telephone
Communication,” but the old hackneyed thing won t stay dead —we
must bury it again. What chinking person will believe fit a mer
chant whose daily expensee are more than $25.00, r \ s n at cost
and repeat the performance every year for. 6 years m succession ?
This talk about going out of business, closing certain departments,
reducing stock, etc., is the veriest bosh and nonsense. It’s the same
old story—the same clap-trap scheme of deception that has for six
years been perpetrated upon an innocent people.
Now listen. We can’t sell at cost —they can’t sell at cost. We
don’t sell at cost—they don’t sell at cost. It’s dollars to doughnuts
that not an item.of new merchandise will be bought in p arnesville at
actual New York cost during the balance of the year. A/e insist that
we don’t sell at cost, but we stake our reputation as h meat men on
assertion that we will duplicate any article they may of ! er yoi at the
same or a lower price.
