GEORRU WlJft MEDALS.
Georgia has been conspicuously
successful in her exhibit at the great
Omaha exposition, which was in
charge of Hon. W,J. Northen, a inan
who is doing much for the state. He
gives the following evidences of the
success of the exhibit at this exposi
tion :
“Georgia continues to win victories
on this conspicious field of contest.
With $7,700 we come into the miner
al, mining and stone section of the
union and win a gold medal on build
ing stones; a gold medal on aluminum
ore and products; a silver medal on
minor minerals; bronze medal on
clays; another on manganese and iron,
and another on gold ores. We are
also in the great grain section and
have won a silver medal on grain,
grasses and cotton. In this great
contest of states we have won the
gold medal on state exhibits. We
are near through, yet will wire you
again what could have been possible
if we had come with only half the
money expended by any other state.
With $3,000 in building and $450 for
ground space, we had only $4,100 for
our show.
“Georgia came on the home stretch
with great distinction. We won the
highest honor, a gold medal, for
the small farm—that of John A.
Mangett, of Marietta. We won
another gold medal on ornamental
lumber and timber specimens, a
bronze medal on cheese, a bronze
medal on indian corn, a bronze medal
on sugar cane syrup, a bronze medal
on timber specimens, and a gold one
on our fruits. We took a medal on
everything we had on display, and all
we needed to take medals was to have
more money to bring more things.
We were not reduced to a diploma
nor honorable mention on a single
exhibition.”
Why is it necessary for our young
men to go west or elsewhere, when
our own state and southland odors
prosperity for its development ? The
truth is that a different system of de
velopment and management here is
all that is necessary to cause our
fields and forests to bloom and bios
som with peace and prosperity. It
may be hard for the people to see it,
but it is nevertheless true. We hope
the time has come when the change
in management will be made.

Alex Diiiiihh Wanted.
One night last week, a negro en
tered the home of Uncle Wash Oli
ver, near Midway church and made
an attempt to rob the house. Uncle
Wash heard a noise in the house and
as he arose from the bed the negro
grabbed him. A son of Uncle Wash
came into the room with his pistol
but it being dark he could not shoot.
In the scramble, the negro left his
over coat and hat and from these, he
is supposed to Ire Alex Dumas. The
friends of Uncle Wash and the peo
ple of the community are anxious to
capture the negro, for he is said to
be very mean and deserves punish
ment. In this encounter, Uncle
Wash was terribly choked. The ne
gro escaped but the citizens of the
community want to capture Dumas
if possible. He is described as be
ing black, about 6 feet 2 inches high,
weighs about 165 pounds, 25 or 27
years old. Any information about
his whereabouts, sent to P. O. Box
160, Barnesville, Ga., will be thank
tully received.

A Ralston Club.
Miss Belle Murphey cordially invites
all who believe that health, happiness
and beauty are worth striving for to
meet at her home on Friday evening,
November 11 th at 7 o’clock, to dis
cuss the great Ralston doctrines of
health, happiness and physical cul
ture and grace.
All are invited, young and old j
alike, but especially those who are
interested in such subjects, doctors j
and teachers. The advisability of
forming a Ralston local club in Bar
nesville will be discussed. It is not
a money affair, no dues or money be
ing required. It is just a health club.
Miss Murphey believes, as thou
sands have affirmed, that it is “the
greatest movement of the age, that
there is nothing like it in all this world
for encouraging health and happiness
in our homes. Only those are wanted
in the club who conscientiously be
lieve that the care of health is a duty
to self and others, that union imparts
strength, and that organization affords
the means of encouragement, as well
as discussion, enlightenment and
pleasure.
