BARNESVILLE, GA., THURSDAY* MARCH 30,1899.
THE FIFTH REGIMENT BAND
o
WILL 50, AT THE CHAUTAUQUA WITH
THIRTY MEN. ,
o >
The directors of the Barnesville Chautauqua Association
are very glad to announce that they have closed a contract
with the famous Fifth Regiment Band, of Atlanta, Ga., to be
composed of 30 men, for the entire Chautauqua week.
Last year this band, with 22 men, was a great attraction,
pleasing everybody, but in coming this year with 30 men,
it will far Surpass its work last year. It will simply be su
perb. It will be the largest band ever engaged for such an
occasion in Georgia, and it will this year include solos, du
ets, quartets and other very important additional features
over last year. In itself, the band will make the Barnesville
Chautauqua overshadow every t Chautauqua in the state
or south, and the other attractions will be of equal merit.
In fact until the program is in progress, one can but dream
of the joys of the marvelously brilliant session of the Chau
tauqua that Barnesville will hold during the week, July 2-8.
It will be the greatest event of the kind in Georgia in 1899.
The program will be matchless in its attractions and Barnes
ville proposes a demonstration throughout the week that
will be the wonder of the people of the whole state.
Baruesville’s Chautauqua.
The Atlanta Constitution Tuesday
contained the following about Barnes
ville’s chautauqua:
“Lieutenant Colonel Frank M.
Stafford of Barnesville, Ga., member
ot the Governor’s staff, was in the
city yesterday in the interest of the
Barnesville Chautauqua Association.
He closed a contract with Mr. E. W.
Dutton, manager of Wedemeyers fa
mous Fifth regiment band, for a band
of thirty men for the entire week ot
the session, July 2d to Bth. This is
the largest number of men ever en
gaged for a fullweek by any chau
tauqua association in Georgia.
“Col. Stafford talks enthusiastically
ot their programme. The directors
are now negotiating with such public
speakers as Hon. Joseph Bailey,
“Private” John Allen, Senator John
W. Daniel and General Wheeler and
such lecturers as Watterson, Wend
ing, DeMotte, Page, Bain and Dixon.
Hon. William J. Bryan will deliver
the Fourth of July address.
“The Barnesville Chautauqua last
year proved a success, not only from
a literary and educational standpoint,
but paid a handsome dividend to the
stockholders. The directors propose
to invest $2,000 in this year’s pro
gramme. ”

This great book contains the names, ad
dresses, photographs and experiences of
hundreds of women who were once hope
less invalids, but who have been restored
to robust womanly health by the use of Dr.
Pierce’s Favorite Prescription. This mar
velous medicine acts directly on the deli
cate organs distinctly feminine. It makes
them strong, healthy, vigorous, virile and
elastic. It fits for wifehood and mother
hood. It banishes the usual suffering of
the expectant months, and makes baby’s
advent easy ar.d almost painless. It robs
motherhood of its perils. It insures the
robust health of the little new-comer and a
bountiful supply of nature’s nourishment.
It transforms weak, sickly, nervous inva
lids into healthy, happy wives and mothers.
For a paper-covered copy of Dr. Pierce’s
Common Sense Mediial Adviser, send 21

Miss Edith Cam, of Clinton, Allegheny Cos.,
Pa., writes: "After two years of suffering, I
began taking Dr Pierce's Favorite Prescription
and am now entirely cured. I had been troubled
with female weakness for some time and also
with a troublesome drain on the system, but
now I am happy and well.”
In cases of constipation and torpid liver,
no remedy is equal to Dr. Pierce's Pleasant
Pellets. They regulate and invigorate the
stomach, liver and bowels. They never fail.
One little "Pellet ” is a gentle laxative and
two a mild cathartic. They never gripe.
An honest dealer will not urge a substitute
