Bara*. BARNESVILLE, GA., THURSDAY, JUNE 1, 1899. To the Memory of Walter W- SpenGe. I cannot let the opportunity pass to say something about my late friend, Walter Spence, in as much as I was not present to show my love and es teem for him by placing flowers upon his grave. Words will live longer than flowers though from lips so un worthy of the sentiment. Walter Spence was as true a man as ever lived. He was a friend wor thy of any trust or confidence, honest with himself and fellow man. I had the pleasure of knowing him well. His loving temperament, pleasant address and thorough gen tlemanness won almost every one. I knew him in his home life and that he loved and honored his parents, was fond of his sisters and brothers was evident at all times. Jn his death many have cause for sorrow. His bright sunny disposition was the life of his companions and all will miss him. I feel that I have lost my very best friend and while I am older he has often given me very wise councel and on many occasions has his advice been ot great weight with me. He was a perfect gentleman and my heart aches when I think of the solemn fact that I will never see him again on this earth. May God bless his death to the good of his loved ones and hundreds of friends and admirers. J. M, Cochran. The Barnesville. Blues- The Barnesville Blues will contiuue to exist as a military company. She taught there the past term and pleas ed all the officials and patrons. The spring session closed two weeks ago. The little Dutch J boy who stopped tile leak in the dike with school readers, how he was walking along / the dike when he heard a faint sound of trickling water. and knew at once that a leak had sprung in that great embank ment which saves Holland from the devas tations of the hungry sea. It was early in t the night, and no one was near at hand. The leak was small when he found it, but he knew that the action of the water would enlarge it long before morning, and wash away the entire embankment, inundate the country and destroy his own and thou sands of homes. So he bravely put his finger in the crevasse, and kept it there all the long night through, until help came and the opening was properly stopped. He had saved his country. Equally insignificant is the entrance of disease into the human system. The be ginnings of the most terrible ailments are so small they can be easily stopped at the start. Your health is a dike which keeps out and stops the inroads of dangerous and devastating disease. Whenever it breaks down, no matter how slightly, there is an opening for disease to enter. If the open ing is not watched, it will grow larger, until the sweep of disease overwhelms you, and health and perhaps life is de stroyed forever. Fortify your health with Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery, and you can defy ill-health. You can make your health so strong a bulwark that disease cannot find a crevice through which it can creep. Taken in time, Dr. Pierce’s remedies pre vent greater and more serious troubles. Hundreds write daily to Dr. Pierce, telling him how these remedies have saved them and made them strong. Constipation causes and aggravates many serious diseases. It is speedily cured by Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets. To Drink TO THE SUCCESS ; OF YOUR UNCLE SAM .
