W. P. A. Conducts
Summer Book
Reading Club
Through the cooperation of M PA
and the Georgia Library Commission
the Seminole County WPA Library
has conducted another Vacation Read
ing Club, for the children and young
people, during the summer months.
September Ist has been set as the
closing date for the Vacation Read
ing Club.
The certificates, issued by Georgia
Library Commission, will be awarded
each member who completed the read
ing course. The club membership has
not been as large this summer as
usual but the general reading of the
young people has been greater.
The library has never before, at one
time, had as many new, outstanding
books added to the shelves.
A substantial amount was spent
for books for children and young
people.
We tried to select approved books
which are both interesting and read
able.
The certificate will be presented
some time after the opening of school.
All club members are requested to
come and make thejr final reports.
Lillie Seale, Librarian.
ATTENTION
PEANUT
GROWERS
With favorable weather conditions for next 30 days, we are al
most certain of another good bumper crop of peanuts that can be sold at
higher prices, provided these peanuts are HARVESTED and CURED
properly.
You will have two types of peanuts, EDIBLE PEANUTS and OIL
PEANUTS. Both of these type peanuts will be bought on GRADE, there
fore if a Farmer is growing Oil Peanuts, it will certainly pay him to sell
No. 1 OIL PEANUTS, instead of No. 2, No. 3 or low grade Oil Stock Pea
nuts, if he expects to get the top market for his crop.
We hope this year that greater care than ever will be used in
HARVESTING, STACKING, and curing the Peanut Crop. With the Gov
ernment program on peanuts, there will probably be some delays in getting
cards etc., and it will pay the Peanut Grower to take sufficient time in get
ihing his crop ready for market.

JAPAN’S EXPORTS
Much of Japan’s export trade in
cotton textiles —the world’s greatest
in “bulk lines” until about five years
ago—may be lost regardless of the
war’s outcome, the U. S. Department
of Agriculture says in a report in
Foreign Agriculture. Cotton manu
facturers in India are rapidly expand
ing their mill capacity and textile ex
port trade. The British cotton textile
industry has been reorganized to offer
strong post-war competition. In addi
i tion, wartime expansion of the Conti
nental European rayon industries is
i likely to result in greatly increased
post - war competition with cotton
textiles.
The smaller the income, the more
important it is to select nutritive food
at a minimum cost.
