Mrs. A. L. Hay was hostess to the
Catherine Bryan Circle of the Baptist
W. M. S. at her home Monday after
noon.
The subject for the program was:
The mark of wisdom. The Devotion
al was given by Mrs. A. D. Sellars
who read the following verses of
scripture: John 1:41; Luke 5:18-20;
Daniel 12:3.
Talk—An All Out Evangelism, was
given by Mrs. F. A. Raley.
Talk—Christ at the Cross Roads of
the Pacific—Mrs. C. J. Patterson.
A prayer for world peace was led
by Mrs. J. B. Thomas.

birthday anniversary at her home

TURNAGE-BROWN
WEDDING.—
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Turnage an
nounce the recent marriage of their
daughter, Verna to Fred Brown, of
Marietta, Georgia. The wedding took
place at the home of Rev. E. Ross
Sanders.
They will make their home in
Marietta.
The guest attending the wedding
were Anice Turnage, Varedale Mc-
Mullen and Mabel Grant all of Donal
sonville; Joe Brown, William Ayres,
Gene Carline and Vester Dean of
Marietta.

Joe Johnson, Jr., who recently en
listed in the U. S. Coast Guard, re
ceived instructions last week to re
port to Tampa, Fla., Monday of this
week for active duty. On arriving
there officials ordered him to return
home and report back for duty next
week.
Mr. H. F. Barbree was called to
Dothan on account of the death of a
brother 't'uesday.
IRON CITY TRI-Hl-Y NEWS
The Iron City Tri-Hi-Y is sending
six delegates to the conference in Val
dosta this year. They are as follows:
Mrs. Porter Smith, Florence Wood
ham, Margie Hornsby, Earnestine
Cross, Jean Howard, and Jerry Rob
inson.
Several girls in our Tri-Hi-Y have
been to visit the sick and curried
flowers to them.
Our Tri-Hi-Y is saving to buy a
bond and we have already begun fill
ing our stamp book.
We are still promoting the sale of
stamps in school, and our stamp sales
now total $248.70, while our bond
1 sales extend to $712.50.
The school collected and sold 11,737
! pounds of scrap iron in observance of
] “MacArthur Day”. Students were j
■ paid in defense stamps, the high .
i school room winning first place with !
$15.75.
