entry in the tournament at
Milledgeville last week was
eliminated by Rossville.
CHAMBER DIRECTOR
MEETING
The board of directors of
the chamber of commerce
met Wednesday morning v and
conducted routine business.
The group is attempting
to set up ways to encourage
construction workers to move
to Donalsonville when the
work on the paper mill be
gins; and they are in contact
with many other prospective
industries.
A financial report showed
the chamber to be in good
condition, but several mem
bers are delinquent in their
dues.
Among those attending

ly, Lonnie Jernigan, Ross

LIONS SEE FILM OF
SAVANNAH

week’s meeting of the Lions
Club.

announced the appointment
of the committee to prepare
for the sports car race to be
sponsored by the club in Oct
ober. He also announced that

arrived at the 93 Engineer
Company (Float bridge) Au
gust 9,1962, after crossing
the Atlantic Ocean by boat.
The first view he had of Eu
rope was on Aug. 8 at the
port of Bremerhaven.
He will work as a bridge
specialist in one of the bridge
platoons in the 93 Engineer
Company for the rest of his
tour in Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Roland
have a little daughter, Dian
na Frances, born on August
7th at the Miller County Hos
pital in Colquitt. Mrs. Roland
is the former Miss 1 Elizabeth
Shingler.

School band begins drills for opener
The Seminole County Band
began its pre-season drill
last Monday morning at the
football stadium. According

DISTRICT MEETING
The Bainbridge Sub-Dis
trict Methodist Youth Fel
lowship met at the First
Methodist Church in Donal
sonville on Monday night.
The local MYF’ers met at
the church for supper at
which Miss Polly Lasseter of
Perry, Fla., was the honor
guest.
Afterwards the sub-district
meeting tock place with Da
vid May of West Bail bridge,
president, presiding.
The opening prayer was
given by Carol Ann Owen,
who led also in the group sing
ing.
Special music was given by
Ray Mclntosh, who sang,
“Hew Great Thou Art” ac
companied by Mrs. Mclntosh.
Miss Lasseter was the
guest speaker and gave a
talk in a
gripping manner on “Why
Are You Here?” In apprecia
tion the group presented her
a copy of “Leaves of
Gold.”

ing meeting which was fol
lowed by a social hour in the
social hall of the church in
which Miss Lasseter led in
several interesting games.

cation. It is expected that the
size of the band this year will
be about 40 pieces.
