ELECTION
GEORGIA, SEMINOLE COUNTY
Notice is hereby gnven that a
Democratic Primary will be held on I
Tuesday, November 13th, 1962 for |
the purpose of nominating a Mayor '
and Two Councilmen for the City
of Donalsonville for two-year
terms beginning January 1, 1963,
and further for the election of
three Democratic Executive Com
mitteemen for fourty ear terms be
ginning January Ist, 1963.
The time limit for candidates to
•qualify and pay entrance fees shall
■expire at 12 o’clock noon, Tuesday,
October 30th, 1962. The time limit
for registration of voters wiill ex
pire at 12 o’clock noon Saturday,
A’ovember 3rd, 1962.
Candidates must qualify within
the time limit named above in .per
son with Mrs. Louise Hay, City
•Clerk, and pay the following en
trance fees: For Mayor—s3o.oo.
For Councilman —$20.00. For Exe
cutive Committeeman —$1.00.
Candidates for councilmen must,

The rules of the primary
state that each candidate in
a contested race will be allow
ed to name one election man
ager to represent him in hold
ing the election.

mittee for over 20 years.

then twenty-five for the
eighth.
The races will be under the
supervision of the Sports Car
Club of America. Drivers will
compete for trophys, they re
ceive no cash awards. There
are thousands of members of
the national club, and dozens
of entries have been received
for the races here.
Proceeds from the project
will be used by the Lions Club
for its community service pro
jects. Included are the school
band, tne little league, sight
conservation, Camp Fire Girls
and many others.
Glee Club Officers
The Seminole County Glee
Clu'b met recently and elected
officers.
They are as follows: Presi
dent, David Jones; vice presi
dent, Shirley Phillips; secre
tary-treasurer, Judy Jenkins;
reporter, Carol Ann Owens
and Julia Hickson, librarian.
The dues were set for $1.50.

John Bowen Earnest
Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon at the Cal
vary Church in Brinson for
John Bowen Earnest, 60, who
passed away Friday at noon,
following a heart attack.
Rev. L. A. Mock officiated,
sisted by Rev. P. Z. Smith,
interment was in the church
cemetery, with Evans Funeral
Home directing.
Surviving are his widow
and five sons, Ralph Earnest,
Jacksonville, Rev. Curtis Ear
nest, Panama City, Henry
Earnest, Tallahassee, Law
rence Earnest, Atlanta, Doc
kie Earnest, Brinson, two
daughters, Mrs. James A.
Miller and Mrs. Roscoe
Alday, Donalsonville; three
brothers, Frank Earnest,
HOMECOMING SET FOR
NAZARENE CHURCH
The annual homecoming
services of the Church of the
Nazarene will be held on Octo
ber 28, 1962. The church is lo
cated on the corner of North
Wiley and Crawford Streets.
Everyone is invited to come
bringing his friends and rela
tives. Dinner will be served
'immediately after the morn
ling services. It will be a tra
ditional basket lunch type
meal.
Sunday School will be at 10
a. m.; the homecoming ser
vice at 11 a. m. The pastor
extends a cordial invitation
to all friends and relatives of
the church.
Homecoming Dance
A treasure chest of excite
ment awaits you if you are
one of the lucky students to
attend the Homecoming
Dance. The dance will follow
immediately after the home
coming football game Friday,
October 19. Admission will be
