The basic purpose of the
price support programs oper
ated by the Commodity Cred
it Corporation is not to estab
lish maximum or minimum
prices for the supported com
modities'. Nor was it ever
intended that CCC would be
come the final purchaser of
supported commodities.
Instead, the idea behind the
support program was to per
mit a more orderly flow of
farm goods to market by
helping the farmer hold cer
tain crops off the market
until needed and prices would
be more in line with costs of
production. As we all know,
this is not the way CCC oper
ations turned out.
Yet, the basic purpose of
price support is still there and
the farmers in this area can
and do take advantage of it
as intended-
Good examples of this are
our local operations under the
oats and corn loan programs.
We have handled both types
of loans for a number of years
now but very few deliveries
have been made to CCC in
lieu of repayment.

LOOKING FOR
PERFECTION?
Owners of more than 3,600 Georgia
buildings ended their search when
they chose flameless electricity for
cooling and heating.
We’re talking about the level-headed
businessmen with an eye for economy.
They like the modern electric way of
indoor climate control.
Customers, employees and employers
benefit from “year-round springtime.”
There are no combustion by-products
in buildings cooled and heated electri
cally. Inventories stay clean. Interiors
remain new-looking, and redecorating
costs are cut.
You save money on construction, too.
There are no pipes, vents, boilers, flues
or chimneys to install.
If you’d like a perfect jewel of a
building, call us. Learn why more and
more commercial buildings are climate

eight or nine loans on the
current oat crop. Loan rates
are 76c per bushel if stored
on the farm, or about 70c per
bushel if stored in an approv
ed warehouse, depending up
on grade.
It is our understanding that
the opening market on 1964
oats was less than price sup
port. This being true ,it looks
like just good business to
place your crop under loan,
use CCC funds at low interest
rates and wait for a better
market. If a better market
does not come, then you
would not have lost a thing
because the oats could be de
livered to CCC in settlement
of the loan and you would
have gotten more out of them
than you could have sold
them for, anyhow.
