Miss Bridges is the bride of Mr. Wheat
in impressive double-ring ceremony
Miss Beverly Bridges, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Her
bert Bridges, and Mr. Warren
Wheat, Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Warren Wheat of Cov
ington, Ky., exchanged their
wedding vows on Saturday,
August 29, before a large
assemblage of relatives and
friends at the First Baptist
Church here.
The Rev. Henry Durham,
pastor of the church perform
ed the impressive double ring
ceremony. .
A large sunburst arrange
ment of white glads, Fuji
mums and large white mums
centered the altar. On each
side were potted palms and
woodswardia ferns flanked
by floor seven-branched vault
ed candelabra which held
burning white cathedral cand
les. Family pews were marked
with white satin ribbons.
Perry Bridges of Blakely,
accompanied by Mrs. Bridges,
sang lovely nuptial music. She
also played softly during the
service.
Wayne Johnson, cousin of
the bride, served as' best man.
Ushers were Roland Bridges,
cousin of the bride, Ed Can
nington, Broadus Simpson
and Jimmy Baxley.
Miss Judy Hays of Talla
hassee, cousin of the bride,
was maid of honor. She wore
a floor length gown of white,
declustered satin with a bell'
shaped skirt. The fitted bo
dice had a scooped neckline
with elbow sleeves. She car
ried a cascade of red Ameri
can beauty roses. Her head
piece was of white satin with
a circlet veil. ■
Bridesmaids were Miss
Barbara Grant of Pensacola,
cousin of the bride, Miss Pat
sy Kelly and Miss Nancy Kell
y of Tallahassee, and Mrs.
Carney Miller of Bainbridge.
They xwore sleeveless dresses
like the maid of honor’s, and
carried a single red American
beauty rose. Their headpieces
were like that of the maid of
honor. |
The bride entered with her
father who gave her in mar
riage. She wore a formal wed
ding gown of peau de soie and
chantilly lace. The bell skirt
was accented with lace medal
lions down the front. The
skirt’s fullness was drawn to
the back with a bustle effect
extending to a full chapel,
train.
The fitted 1 bodice of lace
had a scalloped Sabrina neck
line with long sleeves ending;
in calia points at the wrist. A
finger tip veil of imported Wile
illusion fell from a crown of
seed pearls. She carried 1 a
white bible on which posed a
large white orchid showered
with white ribbons and whi.te

The Reception
After the wedding, Mr. and
Mrs. Bridges entertained at a
reception in the social hall of
the church.
I Guests were greeted by
Mrs. Weynlan Cannington of
Bainbridge who introduced
them to the receiving line.
The guest register was kept
by Mrs. E. E. Grant of Pensa
cola and Mrs. Bill Messer of
Tallahassee, aunts of the
bride.
The long tea table was cov
ered with a white linen da
mask cloth draped with south
ern smilax caught in the cen
ter with white wedding bells
and white pompon mums. In
the center was a handsome
silver five branched candel
abra with a nosegay of white
pompon mums, net and rib

At one end was a crystal
bowl from iwhich delicious
punch was served by Miss
Ruth Bridges, Miss Linda
Bridges, Miss Olivia Pratt
and Miss Sylvia Pratt of Cin
cinnati, Ohio, all cousins of
'the bride. At the other end
was the beautiful square,
three-tiered columned wed
ding cake topped with wed
ding bells, valley lilies and
pearlized leaves. Under the
columns was a miniature
. bride. and .groom vkhich had
graded l We wedding cake of
the bride’s sister. The cake
was embossed with white
epun sugar roses, calla lilies
and orange blossoms which
swayed to a large white spun
sugar orchid at one corner.
The cake was cut and served
by Miss Judy Wheat, sister of
groom. ,
j Circulating hostesses were
Mrs. Charles Bridges, Mrs.
Champ Bridges and Mrs. Gor
don Spooner.
For the occasion, Mrs.
Bridges, mother of the bride,
iiwore a coral knit dress with a
rope belt. Her corsage was of
pink carnations.
Mrs. Wheat, mother of the
groom, was dressed in a reg
ency blue whipped cream
dress with a fitted bodice and
a gathered skirt with which
she wore a pale pink cama
ion corsage.
For her wedding trip to
Lexington, Ky., where the
groom will enter graduate
school this fall, the bride wore
'a light blue two-piece dress
with matching accessories,
jand the orchid from her brid
*al bouquet.

Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Joe Easom who
are the proud parents of a
little daughter, Leslie Ann,
born on August 17 in Atlanta.
Grandparents are Mrs. Jack
Easom and the late Mr. Eas
om, and Mrs. Poose and the
late Mr. Poose of Duluth,
Minn.
Mrs. Rannie Easom is her
great grandmother.

The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. John
Priest and family of New Ha
ven, Conn, have been visiting
Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Wurst.
While here they and Mr. and
Mrs. Foster Wurst and family
enjoyed several days 1 at the
Wurst home at Mexico Beach,
Florida. .
Friends sympathize with
Dr. Priest in the death of his
mother recently. Mrs. Zelah
Grace Priest was the leader of
“some 24,209 l Methodist wom
en throughout Indiana.” She
had held many high offices of
her church, including four
years as a member of the
General Board of Missions of
the Methodist Church in the
United States. She had been
a delegate to the quadrennial
General Conference of the
Methodist Church last April,
and was a delegate to the de
nomination’s Jurisdictio na 1
Conference at Cleveland in
June.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Custer
nd Julie of Atlanta are
spending several weeks here
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Julian
Webb and Mrs. E. C. Smith
This week they are at the
Moseley cottage at Bel Air
Beach. They were accompain
ed by Mrs. Vance Custer of
I Bainbridge and were joined
for a couple of days by Mr.
and Mrs. Julian Webb.

Kathy of Tallahassee spent

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Franklin.

ship training conference at

She will be a senior at the

at Milledgeville this fall.

days with Mrs. Frank Raley,

Mrs. Raley entertained in
her honor at a reception on
Friday night at her lovely
home here.
Arriving guests were greet

J. B. Clarke kept the guest

was the guest of honor who
was lovely'in a blue sheath
dress with a lace bodice with
which she wore a corsage of
frenched white carnations.
