Johnson tops Gibbons in election

INCUMBENT Goree Johnson was returned to office for a,
third term Wednesday in the city Democratic primary
election. He drew 1W votes to lfi2 Sor his -challenger, Fned L.
Gibbons who was defeated. Theirs was the only contested
race. Mayor Arden Parker was renominated without opposi-i
&on and will serve a third term.
Nomination in a Democratic primary is tantamount to;
ejection, although this is formally done in December’s .general
‘election.
Johnson’s new term of two years begins January 1,1965.
Holdover councilmen are Jack Wright and L. J. Easom.
Carl Spooner, Jr. was without opposition for re-election to
the council Wednesday.
SEMINOLE FFA CHAPTER
HAS A MEETING
The first meeting this
school term of the Seminole
FFA Chapter was held re
cently. Dues are $3.75. Mike
Spooner gave the devotional-
David Pearce, Neal Pace,
Thomas Williams and James
Williams gave their views on
showing and fitting show
calves.
Committees have been
chosen and a program of work
will soon be decided upon.
This year we have 97 mem
bers; last year, 101. An elec
tric hacksaw, shaper, and
new tools have been added to
the shop.
The officers have met
several times during the sum
mer to set up committees and
get all business settled tor the
