A brand new council and council
loom is theorder of things in Thom-
asville, the newly elected municipal
officers having been installed there
Monday night, The city hall has
been remodeled, with new floors and
ceiling and up-to-date furnishings.
The policy of the new Ijoard is di
rectly opposite of that of the old
board and it is expected that many
changes will be made. One of the
changes will be in regard to keep

question having been a paramount

STRANGE BEING FROM THE ANTIPODES
The house of representatives Wed’
nesday adopted an amendment
to the postoffice appropriation bill
increasing the pay of rural letter
carriers form $900 to $1,000 an
nually. It is supposed that the bill
will pass the senate.
Most ot Vuu members of the Geor
gia delegation were heartily in favor
of the increase in salaries, as the
rural carriers are very hard worked
and tke'ir pay is not as much in
proportion as some of the other
postoffice officials get.
