r GRADY COUNTY PROGRESS—PAGE 8 LOCAL ITEMS Miss Alma Bell was a visitor to Climax Sunday. Miss Bessie Dunn of Metcalf spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks in Cairo. Miss Jewel Jones of Whigham, spent a few days last week with Miss Georgia Cannon.- The little two-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Shiver of North Grady, died Monday morn ing of grippe. The parents are deeply grieved over the loss of their bright little boy. Mr. Will Miller visited Meigs this week with a nice drove of mules and horses. There’s al-. ways something doin^g where he goes. Misses Georgia Cannon and Jewel Jones, spent Saturday and Sunday in Pine Park, the guests of friends and relatives. Misses Gladys Paulk and Louis Walsh, spent Saturday and Sun day in Thomasville, the guests of friends. BOX PARTY AT GOLDEN ROD There will be a Box Supper at' Golderi Rod school house of i riday nvening, March 21st. Exercises will begin at .7 o’clock. Every body invited. Remember the date and come. The School. There were twelve “colts” on the Grand Jury last iveek. Whenever there are new men on the Jury who have never served before, the old jurors, in a spirit of fun, make the new men pay, an initiation fee. The fee last week was quite a nice one. It' was collected and given to. the family of R. L. Burns, which was quite the proper thing to do. Local and Personal J. L. Oliver’s Son Mrs. C. F. Sanders, after spend ing some, time in Dothan, return ed home Tuesday. She was ac companied by her mother, Mrs. Blaun, who will spend some time with her daughter. Mr. R. A. Bell and son, Bryan, returned Sunday from Washing ton, D. C. where they took in the inauguration. Mr. Bell talks in terestingly of his trip. He and Bryan enjoyed their stay im mensely. Mrs. Albert Russell of Bain- bridge, President of the W. C. T. U. of Decatur county, spent, Sunday night in Cairo, the guest of Mrs. J. Q. Smith. Mrs. Rus sell delivered an address, which was much praised, at the Metho dist church Sunday night. She went down to Calvary Sunday morning to organize a W. C. T. U. at that place. A Hebrew Merchant, Mr, Fein- berg of Moultrie, will occupy the store where the Wight Hardware Co. is now doing business on June 1st. The Wight Hardware Co. will begin .moving to their new quarters, the store formerly occupied by Wight Bros., next week. We invite all the Ladies to our Spring Opening Tuesday and Wednesday, March, 18th and 19th. Ladies in Charge, A CARD Editor Progress: As I am still in jail and cannot see the friends who have given me their assistance and sympa thy duiing my trial, and *during the time I have been incarcera ted in the Grady county jail, I wish to publicly thank them for what they have done for me. I want to thank my Gounsel, Messrs. Smith- and Rigsby, for their faithful and earnest work in my behalf; also Sheriff Nich olson who has shown me every kindness and consideration that he could as Sheriff, and to 'all others who have expressed sym pathy for me. Mv. W. R. Garner announces a new arrival at his home, a fine boy. Contractors Will and Frank Brown are making good progress on the handsome residence of Mr. Forsyth, on College street.
