Mr. B. A, Parker, the newly
appoinled postmaster at Whig-
ham, is expecting his commission
almost any day now. We are
sure that l.e will make a model
postmaster. He is a mighty
good man, polite, clever and ac
commodating, and these are
qualifications necessary for one
who holds this kind of a place.
M . W. H. Searcy made a trip
to Calvary Monday. He reports
some extra fine tobacco in that
section. In fact he says it is the
best he ever saw.
Mr. J. J. Coppage was first to
announce a cotton bloom. He
reports a long cotton bloom in
his field first of last week.

man on the P. & H., spent Sun
day with home folks at Naylor.
Mr. W. D. Coppage left Sun
day afternoon for Hahira to yisit
his father who was quite ill.
Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Godwin
, spent Sunday and Monday with
Mrs. Godwin’s parents. &lr. and
Mrs. Flowers, at Boston.
Miss Cathrine Brown spent
Sunday with friends at Climax.
Dr, J. W. Daniels of Malone,
Fla., was here for several days
last week, the guest of his broth
er-in-law, Mr. E. F. Dollar. Dr.
Daniels is much interested in
Grady county.
Mr. W. A. Shiver of Blowing
Dave district, was among the vis
itors to Cairo Friday.
Rev. J. P. Swan of Cape! was
here Friday, shaking hands with
his friends.
Miss Currie Ausley left Wed
nesday afternoon forBainbridge,
where she will visit relatives.
She will visit in Tallahassee be
fore returning home.
I. A. Baggett of Reno, was
here Monday. He reports splen-
did progress on the new Baptist
church at Reno.
County Commission Harrell of
Whigham, came over Monday to
bring Mr. Billie Shores to the
county home for the poor. “Un

Mrs. C. M. Sadler returned last
Saturday afternoon from a visit
to her son at Bainbridge.
The road gang got two more
helpers this week. Dan Wil
liams, who goes in for 12 months
and Will Ligjhtfoot, who goes in
for 6 months.
Mr. K. P. Wight and family,
and Mr. J. B. Wight and family,
returned Tuesday ajternoon from
Spring Creek.
Mrs. R. L. Vanlandingham left
Tuesday for Oxford, where she
went to attend' commencement
exercises of Emory College. Mr.
Vanlandingham accompanied her
as far as Fitzgerald, where he
went on business.
W. A. Walker. Jr., who has

Abe Poller Opens
Branch Store
Abe Poller, one of Cairo’s
hustling merchants, will open
up a branch store at Coolidge in
the*near future.
Mr. Jake Poller, who is now
in the employ of the firm here
will be in charge of the branch
store. They will carry about a
$4,000 stock there.
Mr. Poller has always been
known as a hustler, and should
do a good business at Coolidge.

J. L. Baldy Dead.
Mr. J. L. Baldy, a merchant
and prominent citizen of Cool
idge, died Sunday afternoon, af
ter a short illness of typhoid
pneumonia.
The deceased moved to Cool
idge from Cairo. He lived here
for several years and was weli
and favorably known. He was
a nephew of Mr. Walter Davis,
of the Cairo Banking Co. and had
other relatives in the county.
He was in Cairo about two weeks
ago in excellent health. He
came to bring Mrs. Baldy, who
Was quite ill, to Dr. Walker’s
sanitarium for an operation. He
returned home and soon was
taken ill and grew steadily
worse. His wife was unable to
go to him until the day before he
died, which makes his death un
usually sad for her.
The remains were interred in
Moultrie Monday afternoon.

Miss Pearl Moo^e and Mr. R. R.
Webb, of Whigham, returned
first of the week • from an auto
tour to North Georgia.® They
visited relatives at Gainesville
and Carnersville spending a short
while in the principal town along
the route. They had no accident
to their car and only had two
tire punctures.
Mr. J. R. Mize, a well known
saw mill man of Calvary, was in
the city Wednesday.
