Mr. and Mrs. John Massey arc
spending the week in Quitmai
with Mr. Massey’s sister, Mrs
R. E. Strickland.
Mrs. Clifford Davis of Valdosta
is the guest of Mrs. A. W. Mil
ler for a few days.
Messrs. D. F. Oliver, M. L.
Ledford, H. H. Herring and C.
G. Stephens, motored over to
Calvary Tuesday, on businesss.
Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Alligood
went to Thomasville Sunday to
attend the wedding of Mrs. Alli-
good’s sister, Miss Carrie Par-
ramore to Mr. Acie Neesmith.
The bride and groom came home
with them and spent the night,
returning to Thomasville Mon
day morning,
Messrs. W. IT. Ulm and B.
Brady of the Union neighbor
hood, Grady county, visited the
city on business Monday.—Times

day, having dental work done.
At the Baptist chui’ch Sunday
moring the Pastor’s sermon will
be of interest to the children as
well as. to the older people.
Announcement is made of a
General Meeting of the Mercer
and Campbell Associations to be
held at Barwick on Friday and
Saturday of this week. Place on
the program is given to Drs.
Harris and Ragsdale fof Cairo,
and it is expected that they will
attend. Indications {point to a
meeting of unusual£interest.

Col. J. Q, Smith spent a day
in Bain bridge first of the week.

Mrs. S. M. Bishop, and daugh
ter Thelma, of Hellena, are the
guest of relative here.
Several gentlemen from the
State College of Agriculture at
Athens, were here last Thursday,
and talked to a small crowd of
farmers at the court house on
matters agricultural.
The melon season is with us
again, and quite a number of cars
are being loaded daily. Messrs.
Mathews, Ledford, Lucas, Hall,
Mudggridge, and Walsh, loaded
the first cars. We regret that
the crop around Cairo is short, as
this lucious fruit seems to be
bringing a good price this season.
Camp Grady held an interest

elected to the reunion at Bruns
wick, after which Rev. W. L
Wright addressed the Veterans.
Mr. J. R. Hinson and family
ofTelogia, Fla., after spending
a week pleasantly with relatives
and friends in Grsdy, have* re
turned home.
Prof. J. B. L. Barber of Whig-
ham was a visitor to Cairo Satur
day.
The coi'u crop is just about
made. One mdre good rain will
put all the corn crops in this sec
tion to the good.
There was a big crowd at Pop
lar Springs Primitive Baptist
church last Sunday. It was the
yearly meeting and the ordi
nance of foot washing was ob
served.

friends in Thomasville. last Sun
day.
Mr. James Dekle, who 'has
been working in Tallahassee for
two months, spent Sunday with
home folks.

The many friends of Judge W.
N. Spence of Camilla, are glad
that he - has been appointed to a
responsible position in Washing-

ment, is a certainty. Judge
Spence is indeed and in truth a
warhorse in the service of Dem
ocracy, jand his appointment is
but natural and just. We, in
common with his host of friends
throughout the Second district,
rejoice with him.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Stanaland
and little girl of Thomasville,
came over Tuesday and spent the
day with their son in South
Grady.
The Pelham & Havana railroad
has purchased a new passenger
car, and received notice one day
this week that it would be shipp
ed between the 1st and 15th of
next month. Passengers on this
line will be mighty glad when
the new car arrives.
Coroner Harrell was called to
Reno Saturday late to hold an
inquest over a negro child found
dead under a house near that
place. The mother of the child,
it seems, found it lying quietly
under the house. She said, be
fore the jury, that she thought
i£ was merely asleep. She car
ried it in the house and put it to
bed before finding out it was
dead. The verdict was that the
child came to its death in a man
ner to the jury unknown, or at
least this is the substance of the
verdict.
Rev. Sam Belcher is spending
a short time at his old home in
Cairo. Mr. Belcher has been a
missionary to Brazil for some
time and is off for a three-months
vacation—Thomasville Times.
Mr. W. K. Barber and his
daughter, Mrs. Kingsby, of Do
than, are the guests of Mrs.
John Hawthorn, Mr. Barber’s
daughter,
Mrs. Emory Stringer has re
turned from a visit to relatives
in Thomasville.
A negro was put off the train
here Tuesday in a dying condi
tion. He lay on the floor at the
city hall for some hours, but was
removed to another place, where
he died. He had a loathsome
disease, and in addition to that,
had consumption.

to Miss Ruby Moore Adams, of
that city which was a surprise
to his many friends.

mediately for points in North

wedding tour.
