Mr. D. F. Pearce, cashier of
the Bank of Folkston is visiting
his parents in Whigham this
week, Donald has many friends ;

Miss Ruth Jones of Macon ar
rived Monday last to spend several
clays with her parents in Whig-
ham. Miss Ruth holds a very
responsible position as steno
grapher for a big firm in Macon.
Mr. Frank McElvy now stands
behind the counter for the Dixie
Drug Co. ready to dispese the
delicious cold drinks and fine
cigars to his customers.
Col. S. P. Cain returned Satur
day last from a brief trip to Syl
vester, Valdosta and White Sul-
pher Springs.
On account of the heavy rains
that have been falling recently
the cotton picking and selling
has been seriously hampered.
The Boyd Lumber Co have a
bunch of hands at work building
houses and laying the founda
tion for their big mill plant.
Things are beginning to look like
real business at Boydville.
Mr. G. H. Parker went to Ca
milla Sunday last and accompani
ed his family to Whigham. He
will occupy the Mills residence
recently vacated by Mr. Rogers.
Miss Zellie Jordan is making
quite an efficiertt clerk in the
Whigham post office. Not only
is Postmaster Parker pleased
with her, but the public as well.

Mr. J. P. Chapman is opening
up about 830,000, worth’ cf new
dry goods at his same old stand
in the Millsj'bujjding. Evidently
he sees in a vision the promising
future for Whigham.
Mr. Clifford Boyd, brother of
Mr. T. A. Boyd is superintending
the erection of the big mill plant
at Boydville one mile west.
Misses Mary and Henrett Ter
rell, the charming young daugh
ters of Mayor R. R. ^errell, en
tered the State Normal College
at Valdosta last week. Both of
these young ladies had finished
the high school course in Whig
ham High School. It is their
intention to finish the Normal
training at the above named in
stitution.

It is with sadness that we
chronicle the death of Mrs. Pink
Shingler of Donaldsonvllle. She
was the aunt of Mrs. D, W. Jor
dan of our town. Mrs. Shingler
was a good woman, she no doubt
will be sadly missed not only by
her family but by the whole com
munity.

the very shocking news last Sun
day of the death of her father
who had only been sick a few
days. The community offers
her their tenderest sympathy in
this her sad hour.
