The Cairo High School.
Miss Myrtle Harris, first grade
teacher, spent Saturday, Sunday
and a small portion of Monday
with one of her aunts in Tiflon,
v h j will soon depart from Geo\
gia for an indefinite length oi
time. She ret irned to Cain
Monday morning.
The school was pleased Monda>
to have as a visitor Bro. B. H
Anderson. This - man is very
popular with .the teachers aftc
pupils, and as usual delivered i
very forcible and beneficial tall
to theschoo-, using-as his sub
jecc thaBibicial story of Jonal
and the whale. He described i
large fish which is on exhibitioi
in Savannah, giving dimension!
to show that such , a story a:
Jonah is hot at all unreasonable
After the morning services Bro
Anderson visited several grades
where he irade interesting talk-
eneem aging the pupils to hardei
and better work. All look for
ward to his visits.
The pupils seemed pleased to
know that such a lurge^and val
uable collection of books was do
nated, for their use, on Friday
night at tin j3ook Shower. Good
books are . necessarly part of a
good .school and we hope that
• good books will be turned into
■fie library from time to time, by
life people of the town.
The increase in the library
facilities will be closely followed
by an improved condition on the
school grounds. Winter grass
will soon be planted, walks will
be laid out and other necessary
things will be done to make our
grounds beautiful.
On Monday afternoon the
teachers of the school attended
a “cane chewing” given by Mrs.
“C. R. Beale, who formerly taught
here; but later gave up the pro
fession. All reportan enjoyable
visit to the homejf Mrs. Beale.
