Whigham News.
The people of Whigham were
shocked on Sunday evening, on
receiving a telephone message
from Pelham that Mr. John Hftr-
i ell of this place had been shot,
and instantly- killed on the street
in Pfrlham. The, remains were
brought to Whigham Sunday
night and laid to rest Monday
evening. He leaves-a wife and
seven children a mother. two
brothers and two sisters to
mourn his death and we deeply
sympathize with the family in
: his their saddest hour of life.
The refreshing rain on Tues-
1 air morning makes life seem
brighter in Whigham as it has
been very dry for sometime.
A number of Whigham people
attended the all day sing at Trin
ity church Sunday.

left Monday noon for, a short
stay in Atlanta. The Doctor
goes; to attend the Georgia Medi
cal Association, which*is in ses
sion there. They will return"

Susie E Wimberley, by the peo
ple of Cairo and Grady county,

their help and kindness shown
to the dear children that have
lost there dear mother and there
best friend on this earth, an d
may each and every one work to
meet her in, that better world,,
for I feel like that she has done
her part here on this earth and
is now resting in the arms of
Jesus. .

dren and four brothers

W. W. Griilin of north Grady,
Pearl and Ruby Wimberley are
the twins and are'in care of their
ejder brothers of Richmond, Va.,
the baby is Erie Elmira Wimber-
e)y, and is in care of E. A Wim
berley of Bainbridge.
I feel assure that the bereaved
children will feel so proud ai.d
thankful to see the day that their
dear father will be able to return
and be with them. Oh what a
great concellation it will be to
them and, to me and their dear
friends, and I hope each and,,
every one will be submissive to
him and to God’s will and works!

High Scnool Association took
place in Camilla. Those who
won honors for Cairo were
Dunn 1st place in spelling and
3rd place in the boys essay, Mary

ball throw and 3rd place in- 101
yd, dash, Clyde Laing 3rd place
in 140 yd. dash, Robert I-Iudsor.
2nd place in chinning the bar,
Bryan Bell 3rd place in shot put.

gratifying in view of the fac
that this is just the third year in
the Association.
Barton W. Currie writing
about Georgia in the last issue of
The Country Gentlemen, thinks
that great prosperity confronts
us. Mr. Currie says that he
finds freshly painted signpost of
prosperity in the cot-over pine
lands and all over the wiregrass
region above the Florida line,
We have been saying for years
that South Georgia was the com
ing section. We are coming and
vve intend to keep coming, Keep
pour eve on Grady county.
Mr, E. C. Lied, of Darlington,
j. C. is here" on business. He
believes sttongly in Grady and,
ts future. Mr. Lied owns a
lice plantation near town and
will do his best to bring other
good people to this county.,
