Last Friday aftermon Mrs. J.
B. Warnell entertained a few of
her friends at Rook in honor of
her sister, Miss Etna Warnell,
of Metta. A salad course with
ice tea was served.
Those present were: Misses
Ada and Eva Matthews, Ora
Brinson, Kathleen Dunn, Etna
Warnell, Mesdames B. M. John
son and M, C. McManeus.
For Visiting Girl.
Miss Lillian Poulk entertained
a few of her friends last Thurs
day evening in honor of Miss
Mildred Sealy, of Cuthbert.
Miss Marion Vanlandingham,
and her guest, Miss Sealy, Miss
Kathleen Dunn, and Mr. Roscoe
Vanlandingham were invited to
dinner, after which Messrs. V\ al
ter Bell, Walter Jones, George
Crawford and Julien Rodden
benberry came in for a game of
rook.
Late in the evening an
course was served.
In Honor of Miss Sealy.
Last Monday evening Mes
dames W. B. and A. C. Rodden-
berry entertained a number of
their friends at Mrs. A. C. Rod
denberry’s home on North Broad
street in honor of Miss Mildred
Sealy, of Cuthbert, the house
guest of Miss Marion Vanland
ingham.
The house was decorated with
pot plants and brown-eyed
Susans.
Punch was served to each
guest as they arrived by Misses
Janie Bell and Carroll Vanland
ingham.
Rook was the amusement for
the evening. An ice course was
served just before the crowd
dispersed.
There were 25 young people
who enjoyed Mesdames Rodden
berry s’ hospitality.
Mr. Arthur Dickie of Bench-
ton District was a Tuesday visi
tor.

Messrs. W. A. Peterson, W.
C. Jones, K. Powell autoed to
Thomasville Saturday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Clark and
family left Thursday for a ten
days visit with relatives in Shell-
mgn.
The marriage of Miss Mamie
Mamie Belcher to Mr. J. C. Wal-
dren took place last Sunday af
ternoon at five o’clock at the
home of the bride’s parents on
South Broad street.
Palms and ferns were used to
decorate the parlor where the
ceremony took place. The cere
mony was performed by Rev. B.
R. Anderson, pastor of the Pres
byterian church.
The bride’s dress was of cham
pagne satin with shadow lace
trimmings, white hat and gloves.
The bride is the eldest duugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Bel
cher. The groom is a prosperous
farmer of this section.
Immediately after the cere
mony Mr. and Mrs. Waldren left
for their home about five miles
in the country.
The marriage was a very quiet
one, only members of the two
families, being present.
In Honor of Miss Warnell
An informal porch party was
given by Mrs. M. C. McManeus
last Saturday afternoon at her
home at the Central Hotel, in
honor of Mias Etna Warnell
Rook was played ior pastime. A
salad course was served.

Mr. Dozier Speer, of Thomas
asville, is here on a visit to home

Mrs. W. C. Jones visited Whig
ham last Monday afternoon and
night.
Mrs. Simmie Barrett, of Au
gusta, is visiting Mrs, L. G,
Merritt.
Miss Laleah Wight left Friday
for a few days visit with friends
in Albany;
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hart, of,
Sylvester, visited relatives here
during the week.
Miss Lois Higdon, of Calvary
came Tuesday for a visit with
Miss Agnes Walker,
Mrs. W. M. Searcy left Satur
day for an extensive visit with
relatives in Sylvester.
Mr. Charley Knight, of Titus
ville, Fla., was a visitor on our
streets during the week.

The petition of I. W. Myres and
L, P. Skeen, of Tift County,
Georgia; J. A. Bowers of Thomas
County, Georgia, T, J. Aycock of
•Jackson County, Florida, W. E.
Aycoek, A. Huber, G. T. Demott,
G. A. Horkan, Howard Ash burn',
and R. J. Corbett of Colquitt
County, Georgia, shows—
1— That they desire to form a
railroad corporation pursuant to the
provisions of the Act of the General
Assembly of Georgia, approved De
cember 20th, 1892.
2— The name °f the railroad com
pany. for which petitioners thus seek
incorporation, is to bo The Moultrie
Southwestern Railway Company,
the same not being the name of any
existing railway corporation in-the
State of Georgia.
3— The length of said road as
near as < a i be estimated will be
about Eighty—Five (85) miles.
4— Said road will run from
Moultrie in Colquitt County in >a
Southwesterly direction thlough the
lower edge of Mitchell County and
the Northern portion of Thotnas
County, touching either the town of
Meigs, Hansell, or Ochlookee, and
continuing in a Southwesterly direc-.
tion from either one of the said
points through the County of
Grady and thence to some point not
yet selected on the line separating
said state from the State of Florida
in the County of Decatur.
5— The amount of proposed
capital stock is Cne Hundred
Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars in
shares °f One Hundred($100.00)
Dollars each. Of said capital sthok
Sixty Thousand ($6.0,000.00)
Doljars, thereof shall be known as
common stock, -which said common
stock shall possess the voting power
of said corporation, and the balance
of said capital stock to consist of
preferred stock r -which shall hear
interest at, the vale of Seven (-7)
per cent, per annum, but shall- not
have voting power . by the holders
thereof.
6— Petitioners desire to be incorp
orated as aforesaid for and during
the term of Ninety-Nine (99)years
with the right and privilege of re
newal at the expiration thereof ns
provoded by law.
7— The principal office of the pro
posed corporation will lie in 'the
City of Moultrie, said State and
County.
8— Petitioners do intend in good
faith to go forward without delay
to secure subscriptions to the cap
ital stock, construct-, equip, main
tain and operate said railroad.
9— Petitioners show that they
have given four weeks notieeof their
intention • to apply for charter by
publication according to law.
