To the people of Grady county:
1 LOCALS
Mr. I. J. Edwards is with Abe
In reply to letters and also in an- Poller Hurihfi^his big sale.
sw«*r to a petition relative to a! Julian Roddenberry was in Ar-
change in the city court act effect- lington Monday and Tuesday,
ir.g the salary of the judge, will ,’say | Mr. Laurie Clayton, of Albany,
that I have not had any coiprau- was a visitor to Cairo this week,
ideation from any one connected M r. Clay and daughter, of Cal-
with the city court or any one else varV) were visitor8 to Caira ]a8l
since I came here or before. Fur-
ther more the Constitution of
Georgia, requires that before a bill
effecting local matters could be in
troduced and passed that it be pub
lished in the newspapers at least
. thirty days before the bill is intro
duced, it is impossible to publish a
bill thirty days because it is now
only about. 20 days before the legis
lature adjourns. So you see there
is i.jthing to this proposition-arid
furthermore I cannot make any
' change even if I 'felt so disposed.
I am with the people nnd have no
desire to make any changes in
their local affairs unless by their
consent. Before I shall consent to
change any loeal matters, I shall
expect that the matter be thrashed
out before I; leave my duties here.
I trust my friends will appreciate
•my position.
Yours very truly,
W. H. Collins.

We call attention of the cotton
growers of this section to the ad
of the Grady Ginning Company
in another column of the Prog
ress.
This Company has just install
ed a new set of gins of the Pratt
make, consisting of eight, eighty
saw gins with a daily capacity of
more than 125 bales per day.
The building has been enlarged
and a new engine of the auto
matic cut-off type installed,
which insures the steady opera
tion of the machinery.
This system of gins is the best
known and with the enlargement
of this plant and the plant of the
Empire Cotton Oil Co., which
has only recently been overhaul
ed and improved, will give ample
ginning facilities for this section
and will prevent any delay to
the farmers in having their cot
ton ginned.
These Companies want to gin
the cotton grown in this section
and they guarantee the farmers
througout all this section that
they can have their cotton ginned
quicker here than any where
else.
Bring your cotton to Cairo and
be convinced, Mr. Cotton grower,
that it can be ginned cheaper
here and without delay of any
kind and that you will receive
the highest price for your seed
as well as cotton.
Come
Are you reading the cards of
