A Farmer’s Union meeting,
which was arranged by Presi
dent J. J. Brown, of the Georgia
State Union, and Hon. Chas S.
Barrett, national president of the
Farmers Union, in accordance
with a request from President
Sheppard, of the Florida State
Union, to discuss matters of im
portance to the farmers and bus
iness men, was held at the court
house here yesterday.
There were about 3f«iof Gra

ent. Mayor Ledford presided
over the meeting and a few well
chosen remarks hade the guests
welcome. Speeches were made
iiy Presidents Brown, -heppard
and Barrett, who urged co-oper
ation between business men and
farmers, the joining of the Union
and a better and more profitable
ystem of marketing farm pro
ducts.

Fate of Frank Is Now
In Gov. Slaton's Hands.
The fate of Leo M. Frank was
placed finally in the hands of Gov.
Slaton late Wednesday at the
close of the hearing on an appeal
for commutation of his death
sentence. The Governor took
under advisement and announced
he would render his decision as
soon as possible, but it is not ex
pected that this will be before
Saturday at the earliest.
Frank is under sentence to be
hanged on June 22 for the mur
der of Mary Phagan.

Ail of the above patrons are
doing nicely under the careful
treatment of Dr. Walker, and
will be able to leave for their
homes in a few days.
Dr. Walker is one of the best
surgeons in this section of Geor
gia and he has patients coming
to his sanitarium from all over
South Georgia and Northern
Florida and lie has been very suc
cessful in all of his operations.
If all who have been summoned
for road duty by Marshall Jones
moot him next Monday lie will

Notice of Local Legislation.
A hill will be introduced at the
coming session of the General
Assembly of the state of Georgia
to repeal the present act creating
a Board of County Commissioners
for the county of Grady, passed
at the summer session of the
legislature in 1906 and to re-in
troduce a bill establishing • a
Board of County Commissioners
for Grady County With seven
commissioners as follows;—Cairo
and Pine Park district; two com
missioners — Duncanville, one
commissioner;—Higdon aud Rae
gans, one commissioner; -Whig
ham and Spring Hill, one com
misstoner; Lime Sink and Blow
ing Cave, one commissioner and
Spence one commissioner. And
also to proviue for an election of
commissioners wiien a vacancy
occurs by death, resignation or
otherwise.
And also to provide for the
county commissioners to elect
superintendent of the public
roads of Grady county and who
shall be the purchasing agent for
the chaingang and for all the sup
plies of the county and also be
the Warden.

. Article 4—Any member guilty
of misconduct, after due hearing
may be expelled from the asso
ciation by a two thirds vote of
members voting.
Article 5- Roberts Rules of
Order shall Govern in all cases to.

of the association.
Article C—These By-Laws shall
become effective when adopted
by a two thirds vote of the ac
tive members, and may be
amended by motion introduced
at previous meeting of the asso
