when the pitcher, Mr. tlumprics,
for Bain-bridga, lost, his temper
at the guying-being bunded him
ai.d kicked Mr. Robert Taylor, of
this place, in t he' libud, his spikes
cutting three bad gashes on Tay
lor’s head.
This immediately broke up the
garrie as the Bum bridge people
had the cops take Pitcher Hum
phries in charge, arid lie was
rgshed to the . Recorder's court
where he was fined $103 or 90
days on the streets. After this
trial a warrant- wa3 sworn out
for him and he was placed in
jail, being unahlo to make bond,
nd will be tried at thenext term
of court, and doubtless, ho will be
given a heavier sentence.
This was one of tho most dis
graceful acts ever pulled off by
any player and was one which
the Bainbridgo people did not
like at all, as they have always
been noted forgiving everyone a
square deal at any fport,
The players ahd tho entire pop-
qlation of Baidbridge expressed
great regret at. this occurertce
aud they did everything in their
power to show that they did not
like it’and took it on themselves
to have the pitcher arrested and
they will see', that he gets what
is coming to him^ns they propose
to'let the Wofld’kiiow lhav. noth

punished whether he is a strang

Mr. Taylor is getting along
nicelv and is able, to bo. on his
job, although his head has given
him considerably pain.

forget the kindness shown them

* Coroner Harrell was called to
held and inquest last Sunday over
the remains of Norn Gadsden, p
negress, who was found shot to
death early that morning at her
home about 3 miles west of Whig-
ham. From accident it seems
that the woman and her husband
Willie James got in a mix-up and
Gadsden shot his wife and Jam
es shot Gadsden twice in the
.head, one bullet going through
the temple and the other becom
ing lodged in his head. Gadsden
is still alive and it is thought he
will recover.
Some seem to think that that
the negro James had a hand in
killing the woman and shooting
the husband.
The facts will come out at the
trial.
A jury on Sunday rendered
the following verdict:-
! ‘We, the jury sworn and em
panelled to investigate the death
of Nora Gadsden, find that she
came to her death by a gun-shot
wound in tho hand of Monk Gad
sden. and same is murder, also
that Willie James wasascessor to
the murder. We reccomend that
the coroner swear out warrant
tot Monk Gadsden for murder
also for Willie James as asces-
sor.v. This August 2nd 1915.
