Spend Some Time Where '
The Gulf Breezes Blow.
Large crowds are taking advan
tage of the' splendid opportunity
offered for an outing on the Gulf
by the excursion rates put on by
the Pelham & Havana Railroad.
There have been good crowds from
along the line of this road to Cara-
bclle every Sunday/ recently, and
Superintendent Roe expects nn
even larger crowd to make the trip
this week.
There are some excellent features
connected with the rates that this
enterprising road is offering that
have doubtless been overlooked by
a great many, and that we wish to
call attention to. On their Sunday
rates of $2.00 to Lanark and Mc
Intyre und return they will sell you
these tickets good for the Saturdny
afternoon train and the tickets are
good for return Monday morning
or Sunday night as may be desired.
They also sell a 5 day limit ticket
for $2.45, to Sopchoppy, $2.85, to
Lanark, $3.00, to Caraballo, and a
15 day limit ticket for $3.15 t.o
Sopchoppy, $3.70 to Lanark, and
$3.90 to-Carabelle. Their 90 day
limit ticket to each of these points
is also very liberal and affords an
excellent opportunity t o those
wishing to spend a longer vacation
at any of those points.
The management of this road is
progressivb and are always anxious
to render every service ^possible to
the people of this section. Try a
trip down to the Mexico Gulf and
enjoy the Bathing the Boating and
the Breezes.

The annual IloyB' and Girls' Short

300 boys nnd girls who have won
scholarships to this short course will

at tho same time acquire useful In
formation and an Inspiration that will
do them good for tho remainder of
tholr lives.
Preparations have heon made to take

Unlvorsity dormitories and use the

While attending the Short Course
the boys and girls will be under strict
supervision of those appointed to have
charge of them, and such regulations
will prevail as that parents may bo
assured that their children are well
looked after.
The scholarships held by the boys

of tho scholarships. It will mean
much to thorn, it may mean the
turning point In tholr lives. Determi
nations may be mado which will ulti

orable occasion for all.
Not only Is tho Shoirt Course opon

Water Work Stock Frequently
(W. M. BURSON, Professor Veteri
nary Mod., Stato Col. Of Agr.)
During Warn weather frequent wa
tering of work animals Is necessary.
Horeos and mules should bo watered
before feeding and again after feed
ing. They should-be watered during
the forenoon and during tho afternoon.
If water Is not accessible In or near
the flold It will pay to haul a barrel
of water to the flqld or to unhitch in
the middle of the forenoon and after-
noon and take the animals to water.
Many cases of exhaustion In the
field or on the road are due to thirst,
Many cases ot colic and Indigestion
come of drinking too much water when
very thirsty.
The small size of the stomach of
the horse and mule (capacity three to
four gallons) makes drinking a large
quantity ot water soon after feeding
dangerous, as It Interferes with nor
mal processes of digestion. Taking too
much water when overheated Is one
of the common causes of founder or
laminltis.
Proper care concerning this matter
will pay good dividends on time and
labor Invested. .
