BY WAY OF EMPHASIS
We arc a day late this week in coming out due (o a refractory
press, and our Confrere (lie Messenger lias already come lo our table.
We want, to take t his opportunity of adding a word of. emphasis to Iwo
appeals they make in this weeks issue. One is an appeal lo the voters
of Cairo to take advantage of the opportunity that is now before them
to provide our town with an adequate sewerage system. It is abso
lutely imperative that Cairo should uol take a great step baekward ul
this time by failing to provide a bond issue to provide for the installing
of sewerage. The point that the Messenger makes that in all probabil
ity the present system of cesspool! will soon 1 >3 eomlemned whether we
have a sewerage system or not .should receive due consideration also for
just imagine that we have to go back to the eomlitinns prevailing in
the business section a few years ago and you will get some picture of
what that would mean. This is a time when all citizens of Cairo should
put aside all selfish interest and stand unitedly together for the
common good.
The other matter that we wish to emphasize is the matter of a per
manent Fair Association for Grady County. The success of Grady
Day is proof of what a little energetic aiul united working together will
accomplish and we believe almost every one will agree 'that Grady
county would be benefitted by a three or four days fair every year.
This can only lie accomplished by a regular organization that will be
self supporting in its operation. We believe that ibis is the time of
all times for the forming of this organization. We believe there are
many citizens all •'over. Clrady county I lint will take from one to ten or
more shares of stock in such an arganization at $5.01) each and we be
lieve the sooncrlhcy are asked to do this the better it will lio for all
concerned. ^
Grady County can have a successful fair, there is no question of
that point. THEN LET SOMEBODY GET BUSY AND SELLTHE
AMOUNT OK STOCK NEEDED TO PUT THE FAIR ON A
SOUND FINANCIAL BASIS. DO IT NOW.
