I will havo.thc Improved King cotton, the kind
which has been growing most successfully in tho
■ boll weevil territory. Have ample testimonials
from tho boll I erntory from those who hnvo grown it successfully. This cotton is quick
growth, small stalk, matures .rapidly and when bolls'mature the stalk dies quickly and
not furnish a breeding place for the Weevils all along during tjhe late summer and onrly
months. This is the cotton for you to grow here. Sec mo immediately and make your
rangements for your planting seed. Don’t delay; the supply from tho growers is limited and
they will be sold up quickly. Understand these comb direct from tbegrowers and aie grown
in North Carolina where the seasons are shorter than ours, and 'this makes' tho Improved
King seed doubly desirable. Get busy at. once on this important question, for
absolutely you cannot depend on our native grown, long growing varieties of cptton.

Mrs. Forsyth Enter
tains With Purlieu
Mrs. J.-E. Forsyth entertained
in an informal manner with a
“purlieu” on her lawn last * Mon
day evening for her brother Mr.
Edward Cawthorn of' Moore Pehn.
Each.young lady guest was -re
quested to bring witli her an apron
aud a knife and fork for two.
As the guests gathered they
were ushered to the side laWTi
where were.blazing big wood fires
above which wore suspended big
iron kettles. It was an interesting
ijight to see the big piles of chick
en and the rice being placed into
these kettles for boiling. One big
Icctlle was reserved, for making
coffee. Tlie fires were kept going
briskly and tho savory odors es
caping were sufficient to whet all
appetites. The little excursion for
a snipe hunt in whicii'no game was
bagged probably also served to'add
to the appetite of some of the
guests.
Popping corn over the red hot
coals afforded a pleasant past
time while awating the prepara
tion of the “purlieu. Then , when
it was announced that the kettles
done”:how'that 'purlieu mid
cake did disappear - It was strike-
ing evidence that the open air is a
stimulant to the appetite and to
the digestive organs.
Those present were Misses'.
