The Cairo Messenger VOL- I The League Social. The social meeting of Cairo Epworth League held the home of Mrs. Margaret Wight Tuesday night was deed an enjoyable Mrs. Eugene Clower the guests and in a maimer peculiarly her own each and everyone Miss McCord vice-President the hterary department of League, led the guests in rendition of a very and pleasant program of study and discussions, ly interspersed with music and amusing games. J. T. Chambers with his Mr. Geo. Wight with his with Mrs. F._M. Brannon at piano formed an orchestra furnish delightful music for occasion, At a late hour guests reluctantly bade hostess a kindly good-night expressed their appreciation a most enjoyable evening. Chickens and eggs pass . same as money at Mauldin’s. Another Big Egg Deal. Judge B. H. Pope, the ridge merchant, was in the Monday with anothei big lot eggs. However we give some local news from there and hope to put in the addition [ al pages next week. CYRUS BROWNLEE NEWTON. The Noted Lecturer to Visit Cairo Next Monday Night, the 22nd, inst. Mr. C. B. Newton will one of his famous lectures at the academy in this city day night. Mr. Newton is a Californian and is said to be the West what “Bob” Taylor to the South. His lectures win praise everywhere he ^appears and the press of the country lavish in their praise of man. To those who are ous l> inclined we say go out hear him. Nor does his lecture consist of the humorous side together,but is dramatic as well. The Healdsburg, (Cal.) une has the following to say one of his lectures: 44 Newtou’s name on a gram insures a big audience anywhere on the Pacific coast. He appeared here last evening before an immense house. As always he was original, fresh and brilliantly humorous. New ton’s mission in the world is to make people laugh.
