Prof. A. A. Allen, of Sofkee,
was a visitor to our town Satur
day.
Judge Townsend, of Bain
bridge, spent a few days in our
prosperous town last week.
One of the leading items for
this week is that Judge Jones
worked awhile last Monday.
Dr. Christopher, of North
Georgia, was a visitor to his son
and brother in our town last
week.
We are sorry to note the ill
ness of little Myrtice Cain and
hope to see her at school again
soon.
Mr. G. B. Trulock is having
improvements added to the store
room occupied by Mr. M. Rap.
peport.
Mrs. Harrell and daughter,
Miss Leslie, spent Saturday and
Sunday with friends in Bain
bridge.
Mr. John Bryant, of the firm
of Bryant, Jordan & Co., of Sof
kee, returned Saturday from a
trip to Savannah.
Miss Nellie Butler has return
ed to her duties at Andrew, af
ter spending a few days at home
recuperating from a recent vac
cination.
Mr. Goldstein has just pur
chased of Mr. D. J. Bloodworth
a beautiful Richmond piano.
Our little town is getting filled
with pianos.
The political pot continues to
boil. There is not much water
left, but grease is plentiful so
some body will slip into office
and some body slip up.
The McNair Co. sold 317 bales
of short cotton last week for 1
cents. That price will more
than pay them a good margin
for their trouble with it.
The candidates have kissed
the babies so much during this
political campaign that as a re
sult it seems that a large num
ber of the poor little innocent,
helpless things are threatened
with nausea.
Miss Emma Dixon made a
trip to Savannah a tew days ago
and purchased a beautiful line
of spring hats, so ladies you had
better call at once and get your
Easter bonnet before they are
picked over.
The Alpha Literary Society
met Friday afternoon March 4.
Nineteen members were present.
The usual program was carried
out. The program not being ar
rangeu for the next meeting the
society adjourned to meet Fri
day March 11.
Mr. I. P. Chapman is making
arrangements to have an ice
house built back of his store.
He intends to buy ice by the
carload and run an ice delivery,
so we shall enjoy other city
privileges besides electric lights
and waterworks this summer.
Rev. N. G. Christopher
preached an excellent sermon
last Sunday evening from the
text—“Looking for the King
dom qf God.” The discourse
was directed to those that pass
by spiritual grits in order to get
seme foul worldly substance
that soon decays aways. He
handled the subject well.
Col. M. E. O’Neal again pre
sented his smiling face on our
streets last Friday. Col. O’Neal
has numerous friends around
\V nigham and he does not feel
right to leave them long at a
time. That’s right Colonel,
come again, our hands are al
ways ready for yours.
Prof. Jas. A. Caldwell, princi
pal of Wnigham’s High School,
attended the teachers institute
at Bainbridge last Saturday.
Prof. Caldwell is one of the prin
cipal figures in the institute of
this county and they are fortu
nate in having such a mrn as
he with them.
Messrs. H. A. Logue and T.
J. Mills visited Attapulgus last
Thursday. It is beginning to
be generally considered in this
section of Decatur that Mr.
Logue will be our next sheriff.
There are other good men, but
Mr. Logue is alright, so why not
recognize us occasionally.
Mrs. Z, Trulock was taken
suddenly ill a few days ago and
for awhile it was expected that
she could not live. Her sons at
Quincy were quickly summoned
to her bedside, but we are glad
to report that her condition is
said to be more favorably at
this writing. The trouble was
qongestion of the lungs.
The Parkei Blacksmith & Re
pair Co. is doing a fine line of
repairs and in addition to that
they manufacture wagons, do all
kinds of variety, fancy work,
etc. They have several saws in
their machine shop and the saws
are run by a gasoline engine.
The Parker Co. gets work for
miles around Whigham and are
busy all the time.

Miss Dollie Weldon will dis

Miss Hopkins, daughter of Judge
Hopkins, of Thomasville, who
has just returned from a hat

London, England, will trim her
hats. See the change of her ad.
in this issue.
Col. Bob Terrell, being a self
made man, an ex-farmer, a legal
practitioner, a strictly Decatur
county man and a conscientious
man is as well qualified *to go
to the next general assembly
and help add to or amend our
laws and keep in perfect touch
with the people he represents,
as any man in Decatur county
and we feel assured that he will
be honored with this position at
our next primary.
